Default Carbon Fiber Roof

Hi everyone, was curious to know if any one of you has a carbon roof and if so how are you liking it. Thank you.

I've got it on my 2022 GTS - I love it. Minimal weight savings but the two tone effect nicely breaks up the all silver car. No desire for a sunroof. Makes me smile every time i get in the car because, to my eyes, it looks cool. Same reason i went for the lightweight package - not for the minimal weight saving but because i didn't want rear seats (ala the GT cars), bonus was the lightweight glass is both quieter but lets in more exhaust sound than my 991.2 GTS.

I love the cf roof! I never used the sunroof in my previous 911 so was either slick top or cf roof for me. I’m the kind of guy that’s always looking for the next mod so I figured I would just get the cf roof because trying to add it after the fact is much more expensive.

Carbon Fibre Roof is awesome, looks great and removing 50lbs of weight from the top of a performance car just makes sense.

It’s not that significant a weight savings compared to the aluminum roof. The aluminum roof is already pretty light. The cars with glass moonroofs are a different story.

I think the weight savings is minimal (3lbs over slick top is what I read). Living in hail country, I like the added strength of CF vs aluminium roof (although I have PPF/ceramic on the entire car). If I were parking it outside uncovered, then I’d have gone slick top to mitigate UV damage to CF (easier to repair a painted top).

Yes. That’s right, I was comparing it to the moonroof, there’s only a few pounds savings between carbon and aluminum but I do think that the carbon roof looks so good and it seems most of these cars have the glass moonroof.

It’s about a 3-4 lb savings over aluminum and about 23 lbs savings over a glass roof. Neither make any difference in day to day. That said I got one of each. 😃👍

I have it on my GTS. Absolutely love it, especially with the carbon fiber mirror caps.

No-one has mentioned the fact that it helps keep the interior cooler. It transmits less heat.

This has been debated over and over, there was even someone that replaced their moonroof with a carbon fibre one and the glass, motor and mechanisms came in at around 45lbs.
45lbs at the top of the car will make a difference which is why Porsche shaves every gram of weight they can off of their GT Cars.

It’s really not a debate. The weights are not a secret. It’s more of a discussion. Porsche doesn’t save any weight… the person that specs it does. Get a sunroof, don’t get one it’s your choice. 99% will never know or feel the difference.
