I am somewhat excited about the change and look forward to picking up a 992 Turbo. That said, I was somewhat excited about my 2017 Turbo, but just dumped it and went back to yet another 997.2 GTS for daily driver. Kinda miss the power, but I just enjoy the 997.2 GTS and 997.2 Turbos better for daily driving duties.
Well, you have to remember that most of the 991 v 992 posts got moved from 991 forum to 992 forum (including the “sister” post to this post). And if you read the OP’s post, it’s inviting a comparison.

For me personally, there are aspects I like about the 992 and I’m happy seeing others post pics of their new cars, which is why I occasionally check out the 992 forum (entertainment while eating breakfast, etc.).

I think many of us are baffled and disappointed at Porsche for several of their choices. I think that is why you see the reaction on 992 and 991 forums. And I’m guessing Porsche reads some of this. If not, it’s a fun debate nonetheless. At the end of the day, it’s just a car, albeit an awesome one with unparalleled lineage. It’s not life or death, not family or friends, and certainly not any real achievement for people who buy them (as compared to the people who designed and built them). It’s fun, it’s entertainment, it’s cherries on top.

I think you're right, especially the rear end and the pcm display. My only minor issue with the 992 is the PDK shifter. I like to hold the **** like I'm driving a manual, even when not in manual over-ride, and I certainly can't be dealing with the flappy paddles if I do want to go manual. Unlike many, I actually like the old style cupholders too, whereas the new centre muck collecting hole just looks cheap to me. There are always people who decry any new model against it's predecessor, especially in the Porsche world. Having said that, I'm quite happy to stick with my 991.2 Cab2S a while longer, at least unless they bring out a proper 718 na six banger boxster with a proper roof. I do think that both the 991 and 992 have got a bit too big now for a sports car compared to my old boxsters. I had a 987, a 981 and then a 718, which we all know improved dramatically with each generation except for that bloody engine, which forced me into a 911.

The OP is trolling us. He posted the exact same post in the 992 forum.

Not sure that counts as trolling. Quite reasonable to seek opinions on both forums I suppose, although maybe ought to say so. Probably trying to vindicate his decision.

I saw the 992 recently at town Porsche in Englewood, NJ.... I won’t lie, I went in thinking that 991.2 or bust... but I found myself opening, sitting, looking around the interior at least 5 times.... its a very pretty car and I’m sure it’s a step forward...

I will still keep my 991.2 simply because it’s not a big enuff step to warrant the effort in customizing it down to exactly how I like it... for now 😊

OP’s prior post got moved to 992 section. Scroll down and see “delete” post below.

I assume same thing will happen to this post.

Does anyone else notice this? Pictures still don't do the 992 justice. But up close and personal. What a beast.

I’m not sure where I will land on the 992. I am generally an early adopter. When I first saw the 991, I knew that I would own one, even though I loved my 997. The 991 is a beautiful design, the proportions work perfectly, and it was a huge improvement over the 997. It was a no-brainer decision to upgrade. With the 992, I’m not so sure. In my eyes, much of the exterior styling is a step backwards from the 991. It almost feels like changes were made for the sake of change. Some of the beautiful, curving lines of the 991 have been replaced with clumsy features (look at the front bonnet line with the bumper, or the 3rd brake light for examples). I may warm up to it in the future, perhaps with the 992.2, but I’m not there yet.

The interior alone has finally put the car on par with the competition. And I’m speaking interior only, we all know they’re class leading in driving performance.
I feel like I’m in the Twilight zone here reading this thread. Popcorn in microwave. 🙂

I thought I was going crazy. My original post got moved to the 992 and I thought I made a mistake posting it there..

I just wanted to share my outlook and my decision making process when comparing both. I’m not looking to “troll” or vindicate my decision in any way. I was looking to get input from the 991 forum rather than the biased 992 forum.

Though it seems impossible to do that since they will probably just move it again

You’ll get a biased opinion on either board. The important thing is your preference. You’re the one buying the car, so buy the one that you prefer! Who cares what anybody else thinks?

It was first posted in 991 then moved to 992 and deleted and reposted in 991. Funny.

So outdated IMO. But don’t worry - it happens to all the cars!
Some designers may disagree with you. The commonality going to wide body for all Carreras is a cheap maneuver IMO.

I like the exterior of the 992, but I find a few flaws. One, the distance from the headlights around to the front wheels is quite long. There looks to be too much space there and I notice it. The rear end does not look sorted to me as well on SD package, those small pieces on the bottom need to go. But overall it’s sharp.

The weight, the huge screen interior and digital speedo and also the tach are not my favorite. Panamera tach actually looks better to me...?

out dated is a strong term.... I think maybe the 997 is more out dated, the 991 is just "a bit dated"
