Just messin.. we know what you meant.

I’m all for less tech in the high end variants of the 911 (Etc. Turbo, GT3, GR2RS).. however, the Carrera lineup was long overdue to get with the times, and was in need for a massive interior upgrade which I feel it accomplished.

Uhm . . . Psst . . . the 993 won't be preceded by the 992 and make the 992 look outdated . . . the 993 has already been made, in fact made a loonnggg time ago.

The 991.1 GTS is a keeper, much more so than anything 991.2 IMO.

Yeah, I could care less about tech. My wife on the other hand makes her daily driver purchases based upon tech as much as anything else.

I have an updated touch screen system with back up camera, car play and etc. in my 2012 GTS. The new amps and speakers are decent and clean, but I absolutely do not like Carplay. It annoys the heck out of me when needing to charge my phone. Love my Bang & Olufsen in my DB11, but could care less about the systems or tech in any of my other cars. I would rather listen to engine sound than shytty stereo systems.

I have been 911 guy since always and both 991 and 992 are too big for me. Less sports, more gran touring.

I have never been fan of 991 looks. When i saw 992 on pre-premiere event i ordered it immediately. Much more classic rear with nice link to aircooled 911s and in the same time more modern than 991. Same interior. Much more classic and elegant than 991 without this ugly middle tunnel and stupid power ranger PDK stick.

So yes... At least for me 992 is more modern and in the same time classic looks than 991. Prettier car for sure.

Looks best .2 next. 992 looks like a panamera to me. Not a bad looking car for a sedan.

After now having seen many 992s in person, I like the headlights. Rear end is just too “busy” looking though. Overall I don’t really love it

Interesting outlook. Most comments I've read about the 992 rear is it being to "simplistic" and "fat".

Refreshing to see someone saying it's too "busy" looking. Though I think the SD rear is extra busy looking.

to be honest I think the 991's interior, especially 991.2, will prob age better than the 992. Very functional and spartan, just like a sports car should be. Let's see how that braun shaver looks when the 994 comes out.

Have you looked at Ferrari F1 or egear shifter? What about DB11 shifter? They aged well. If concept good enough for those exotics, good enough for 911s. Check out dashes on some of these cars and other exotics.

The 992 is pretty dang cool in real life. I never really like the Macan/Panamara/991 center console that much. Not horrible, but very Macan like. Sounds like you would prefer 997 interior over everything as that is more old school sports car and simplistic.

I drove home from work this afternoon behind a white 992 c4s. Absolutely stunning car. From all angles it is very beautiful. What I can't understand is porsche lovers on this forum who say they don't like the look of the 992. It looks first and foremost like a 911!

Did you really like the 996tts. I had 3 996tts: 2001, 2003 (750 hp) and 2004 Ruf 550 cab. I thought the 997 tts were a big step up from the 996 tts, but I put 80,000 miles on my 04 Ruf 550 cab. All 3 were bullet proof, even the 03 with 750 hp

Here is a picture of the Ruf and the 750 hp coupe from way back in 2004.

I did have 3 996TT's and a 997 TT also. Loved them all and had 1 996 tuned and 1 997 tuned both with Europipe exhausts (have an EP on my 991TTS).
For the time I thought they were fairly bulletproof no frills and seemed rocket fast. For the first generation to move from air to water cooled the debates then were violent. I cried after I sold the white cab 997TT but love what I have now.

My feeling is if I'm going to come to take the good the forum has to offer then I'll just leave the bad alone and not bother. But the small fee to keep it alive and active isn't going to break anyone.

I’m going to need some time to let my tears dry before I make any decisions.
