One hour MAX job. Taking your time and including 10 minutes of waiting to begin after disconnecting the battery.

If you have not worked with airbags, please have it installed professionally as you can get seriously hurt. Would also recommend waiting at least 20 minutes to allow capacitors to fully discharge as well as ALWAYS storing airbag facing up; never place logo facing the ground.
Lastly check whether center steering wheel nut needs to be replaced.

I’ve taken that airbag off 3x now without waiting and nothing has happened. Maybe I like living on the edge lol. The steering wheel bolt thread locker looks brand new each time I have removed as well I don’t think it needs to be replaced and doesn’t appear as one time use. Doesn’t have a lot of torque on it.

I did a couple of steering wheel changes on past BMW cars and it was a breeze. I did install a new bolt because it has the blue lock tight on it. Also torqued them properly. Definitely disconnect the battery before you mess with the airbag. The last steering wheel work I did was on a GT-R I owned. I really screwed it up, should have used a puller to get it off. Anyway, I broke this spindle that transmits the signal from all of the buttons on the steering wheel and that damn part cost $750. I took it to my mechanic and he fixed it all, he said, "why didn't you just bring it to me, I would have only charged you $100". So, that was the last steering wheel I will ever remove from any car.

Porsche Steering Wheel Change: There are several good YouTube DIY videos available on the process. I have done it three times and watched the video three times. I think it requires a triple square bit. Although you can use a torx bit instead, be careful as the torx bit does not engage all the splines like a triple square bit does. The battery disconnect and wait time is a prophylactic measure to prevent accidental activation of the airbag by either static electricity buildup (interior carpet and plastic) or you accidentally shorting the switch terminals with your wrench/screwdriver/jewelry. If either one occurs, the airbag replacement is very EXPENSIVE not to mention it will probably break your nose, if not worse. I have never been thrown through a car windshield either……but, I still wear my seatbelt.
