Yup. Unfortunately that seems to be the trend as seen w Wolfsburg and SFL Composer n the last 2 weeks. Tuxpan first and then Freeport. And the boat usually is on vacay Friday - Tuesday at Freeport before unloading.

Vacations before unloading! Five days!!! That’s crazy! Don’t they know we’re biting our nails waiting??? 😅
I am debating the same thing. Dealer wanted $3400, does not remove the headlights etc (which I don't want done). Not the entire car, just the front, A pillars and front of roof, rocker panels, rear hips, and rear bumper below the lettering. I have to visit the locally best rated shop near me to see if it makes sense to take them the car after delivery.
have the same issue. I have a wonderful local shop that’s a bit more expensive than the dealer but cover more surface. I’m a little worried driving the car to the local shop and get it scratched. Plus dealers sometimes put swirls on the paint when they prep the car.
In Houston, Porsche dealers send the cars to local shops for PPF. I’m sending mine to Gulf Coast Auto Shield, arguably the best in Houston. Two dealerships send cars there for PPF. They now have a trailer to pickup the car at the dealer. Before they got the trailer, they had a flat bed service provider. Check if the best shops in your area have a similar service. Dealers will never do a better job than the experts dedicated to PPF day-in and day-out. Gulf Coast Auto Shield is full of supercars all the time.

Well its not "the dealer" doing it, they bring in an outside contractor to the dealership.
Anyone here with a car onboard Supreme Ace coming through Freeport, TX?
Seems the powers that be decided to send the boat to Mexico first… 😵💫😵💫😵💫
The boat (Lake Wanaka) I was on did the same thing.... Said it was going to Tuxpan from Baltimore first before Houston, but midway through the trip, it converted to Houston first, followed by Tuxpan. Hope you have the same luck.
My dealer offers PPF and ceramic, so I was thinking of having them do it as long as they are competitive with the better detailer shops. Is it a mistake to consider just having the dealer do it? I would think they are pretty expert at doing this on new 911s.
I have noticed that the best detail shops (at least in my area)- are used by the Porsche dealers here. I have no hesitation in just letting them handle it all for me.
Ordered a 4S Cab for my wife, delivery to LA Center tentative of 8/9/24, out 40th anniversary is 8/11/24 and she doesn't know I ordered this to replace here 997 4S Cab.
My freeze date was 4/22/24.
On 5/7/24 I was notified production would begin on 5/21/24 and was issued a vin#
It's been crickets since 5/7 I Was hoping .like some of you that they would move up the production start date, and when I looked this am now got worried the build might be delayed.
So happy to see an email from Porsche 1 hour ago that "the manufacturing process has now stated 12:54 pm today and completion and delivery are still as stated before.
I see a number of you folks showing "build" pictures, at what point in time can I see them, and, how to I look to find them?? thanks!! Mike
Hi. The build pictures can come up any time--but usually right after completion or a few days afterwards.

Not sure of the accuracy, but found this online berthing schedule for Davisville. If correct, SFL Conductor won’t start unloading until 5/29. Other VW group vessels also listed.

Nice. Amethyst Ace may 31 which aligns with tyd. Hopefully the June 5 tyd date at my dealership is accurate too.
Sales guy said he thinks ppf is 10k at the dealership when I asked.
