Yes, TYD is a dumpster fire. I've mentioned it earlier in this thread (you can search for it) the TYD app is more about customer engagement than anything else (read the original press release from years back) and from a logistics perspective (tracking a package), it is NOT accurate. In fact, the points on the map are predetermined in the page code and use a timer based on average shipping times to move from point A to point B or whatever step you're at on the map. For example, my 911 GTS is in the middle of the ocean right now in the app, but the ship actually just left Columbia and is nearing the Panama Canal. TYD is way off and doesn't even have the longitude and latitude programmed into the page for that. Others on the east coast have a similar experience as the ships near the port. From what I was told (PCNA), the milestones on the app update when the barcode on the car is scanned at the next step. I was told there is no manual intervention - it's all barcode.
All my dates have NOT been accurate. I ordered a 911 GTS. With a 2 month delay at the factory for mine from when the build started to when it ended, I'll probably end up with a Porsche Tractor! Actually, they're kinda cool...I've been at this since the fall of '21 so I've already gone through negativity a few times and I'm rounding the corner to something called cheerful.
Again, if I didn't want the car, I'd get something else because it's just a headache dealing with Porsche. The cars have an outstanding reputation and that is carrying them - IMO, I could be wrong, but the impression is strong.
I've had better logistics from Lego FFS. Heck, I could follow my shower gel from the Amazon warehouse to my front door yesterday without issue! It's not being negative, for some of us, it's reality.

Well, start with the two folks I responded to, who both have TYD pages that are forecasting future events (leave the port, arrive at dealer) with dates in the past (one with dates TWO MONTHS in the past). And I saw that multiple times in my own TYD timeline, where an event that hadn't happened yet had a forecast date in the past. At a minimum these dates should stay in the future. And before you say "but they don't know what date in the future to set", then they should be honest about what they don't know and either say "dates to be determined at the next milestone" or provide a range.
Or there's the vessel tracking. First, why is the vessel name hidden, why not provide that since they know it? Second, the path the boats follow, at least those going to Baltimore, are wrong. Why even do that? And then the ship position is wrong. Siem Confucius was shown as due south of the as of Nova Scotia and due east of Albany when in fact the boat was docked at Baltimore. Giving the impression that you're tracking the boat when you're not is dishonest.
Basically, despite disclaimers being non-binding and variable, the data they show creates an expectation that they fail to meet, over and over again. And managing customer expectations, particularly with an "under promise and over deliver" mindset, is critical to success, in IT and elsewhere. And Porsche knows this - it's why 911s consistently beat the manufacturer's performance claims.
But once the car is at the port and subject to VAG logistics, you start to see why some people like to say that the 911 is just a jumped up Beetle.

My Step 10 and 11 was estimated 7/22/23 and 7/23/23. My car just arrived at US port on 7/17. After TYD updated Step 9 to actual date of 7/17/23, it moved step 10 and 11 to 5/20/23 and 5/21/23, two months in the past. Thus, poor engineering.
I think it's just a prime example of a corporate idea developed into a system rollout with poor execution. Lived with this my entire corporate life and it really takes customer focused people inside the company to stand up and decide to invest time/effort/money to a customer centric fix.
Seem so easy from the outside, pick a logistics vendor and API to their system based on scanning cars into and out of locations. In reality system integration is usually the biggest pain point of application development. Getting systems to talk to each other in proper sequence and timing with updates from each system is what makes great systems great and poor ones a dumpster fire.
The biggest question I would have for Porsche is do they know? Specifically how much customers rely on TYD to drive excitement and inform them of where in the process their vehicle is and when it will move steps.

@SS22 mine is en route to the dealer!
I just got an email this morning too (8:44 am) right after I vented on here LOL. TYD shows mine en route to the dealer too. I wonder if our 911s are on the same truck!!
Part of me wonders if it’s already at the dealer since TYD typically has a delay (remember it delayed about a day before telling us that our car was at the port even though the ship had left the port the day before?).
Has your dealer said anything to you?

I don't think we are on the same page.

Super excited and nervous. My anxiety symptoms are kicking in, in fact. 😅

@SS22 I wonder if our cars are on the same truck too. Which dealer did you get the car at? I got mine at Beverly Hills Porsche.
By the way, my TYD date for the last step went EVEN FURTHER back, now showing June 1.
Maybe TYD knows something and we don’t, folks. Maybe we’re just traveling back through time, something like the curious case of Benjamin Button!
