GT car thoughts with ugly/portly 992 release

Well said. Though we’re right to complain that later = fatter almost as a rule. A later car could be BOTH lighter and faster. Actually, physics commands that lighter cars should be faster, all other things being equal. Mazda is the only company that is still doing anything in this domain. Porsche too should be commended for making the 981 lighter than the 987.2 and encouraged to allocate more r&d funds in this direction.
As new cars become absurdly and stupid fast, hence unusable on backroads and congested highways, the anchor point seems to be moving more to the “feel” end. This is why there’s a “flippening”: longhood 911’s are climbing to the top of the 911 totem pole. When GT Porsches finally become 3500lb+ turbo/hybrids, the Mezger 996/997 GT3’s will do the same on the GT3 totem pole.

Thanks for the invite, mooty! My daughter lives in SF so one day i might take you up on that. Btw, would crapping on your seats be considered bad form? lol

Driving my daughter to school this morning on the back roads in the 991.1 GT3 made me realize some things:
- No one needs a faster car than that for road use.
- The sound of a car is crucial to the driving experience. Win for NA.
- The bigger gear lever is needed for switching between manual and auto mode.

The second 992 has been reviled 991 became so outdated. This generation is the biggest design step so far. Front with retro vibe and timeless rear. Masterpiece. Interior same thing although the shaver lever is a ****ing mistake.
its a shame the car again got bigger and heavier.

So 992 is 50-75kg heavier than 991.2. This really puts AP in a bind to develop something special. Those wanting a lighter car without a carbon tub are in a fantasy world. And what about RS 992 which will almost surely be hybrid. It will be over 3700-3800 lbs. This really seems like a poor update not to mention that the interior is horrible!! Will be an interesting update cycle. Even with 530 hp 992 GT3 will need something else if it is plus 50-75kg to make any real performance gains.
The car is better all around. Soon we'll all flock to one...

Overall looks nice. The shifter a fail in my opinion and the center cup holder is hideous. Makes you beg for the 991 hidden cup holder design. Two veritcial brake lights at rear a fail as well in my opinion. Besides that seems fine to me.

Well, I don't get paid for tracking my Porsche, I do it solely for fun. If/when I want to go "faster", I will take another driving instruction. 99 times of 100, it's the meat adapter between seat and steering wheel that dictates the lap times...
