Ok, bringing this thread back up to the top because I have some input to provide...
I was passenger and driver of a M engineering tuned 992 Turbo S today. This tune had the valves always open option. For those of you who are considering tuning and adding an aftermarket exhaust to make it louder, I strongly urge you to leave the exhaust alone and tune first. This valves always open is very loud, I mean loud at all times, in all rpm's loud. Its dead mouse quiet when the PSE is turned off, but if its turned on and in sport or sport + the stock exhaust is LOUD.
I never understood why Porsche designed the car to have valves, closed, partially closed and open up top, but now I do. Its designed for a quiet cabin when you are just daily driving around town. it gets a bit louder (partially open) under some load and then full open (but still not 100% open) when you get on it. Owners have never heard the car with valves 100% open because they are never 100% open from the factory. With this tune they are 100% open all the time.
Personally it wasnt for me. I found it annoying and gave me a headache to have it growl like that at even 10mph. at 100mph or getting on the pedal its glorious, but its always on always loud all the time and I think that the way it was designed from the factory is a better all around solution.
My 2 cents.

With the valves open all the time...throttle modulation seems to be key. Staying steady at 3k rpm, its actually free flowing and surprisingly quiet even with a tune.
I guess it depends on the exhaust setup...a valved exhaust solution is a must if you want to maintain some civility on telephone calls or just scooting in you neighborhood.

you summed it up in one sentence. If you use the car to commute, talk on phone, listen to music, then valves always open isn’t really something you want. If you prefer the engine roar, sound of the road or track the car then always open may be the ticket.
I’m not in the camp that always open produces any more power than the factory design. It’s more of a sound thing and it sounds mean AF wide open I can tell you that.

Sport mode is angry....
Sport plus...not sure if there is some valve modulation with the M-E tune. Certainly no pop dramatics which is nice.
If you watch the last minute of my video...you can hear the difference between Sport madness and Normal with valved closed. I have an M-E stage 1-2 tune and JCR cats/valved exhaust

I was looking through the thread for some Turbo dyno charts, did not see anything. Have you guys got anything we can look at to see the gains on the non S version?

Hence...similiar peak tq on tuned TT but less peak HP...probably by around 6Ohp. Feels fast as hell too me.
Hard to know if that ur but dyno could tell but probably good for a few 10ths on the 1/4.
My 1/8 mile numbers have me around 10.0 on 1/4. I ran outta room and actually braked at the end and still ran strong numbers.

For a daily, a non-valved exhaust may be too much.
Those numbers are impressive. A 10 flat 1/4 is very fast. What Stage tune?

Sounds great. I have non-valved exhaust but no tune. When near the house I drop to normal mode and the sound is still acceptable. Cold start is stupid loud but it’s my weekend car anyways so it does not bother me.
