I thought my 2019 RS WP on PCCBs and Mags rode well on public roads apart from very low speeds over potholes.

finally drove the GT4RS. short drive but very simple explainer: it's insanely loud inside. @ 4k rpm the 4RS is as loud or louder than 992 GT3 at 7k rpm.

steering is much heavier/ less boosted vs the spyder or gt4. car I drove had mags pccb.

need more miles/ track laps. I think anyone getting this car for driving aggressively will enjoy it. excited to put miles on my buddy's car soon.

Did you drive a mag wheel car or a standard wheel car re steering? The 4rs I drove with it had significantly lighter steering than I was expecting from the car but it could be due to that...

Ah missed that. Haven't driven a standard Gt4 for a while but interesting! CJ, how would you consider the Gt4RS' steering to the NFGT we both had steering-wise? I found the NFGT's to be heavy fwiw 😂.

NFGT/675LT very similar heavy steering...which I love. These to me are the most accurate, direct, purposeful and 'dedicated to the apex' of all cars I have driven.

Qualified as "Manly Steering"- maybe your watch was too heavy the day you drove the GT4RS! Lol. I drove the GT4RS over to our Xpel shop and then grabbed the Boxster spyder and drove it back so it was really a true back to back comparison of brand new cars on brand new tires with good tire pressures set. 4RS was ~30% heavier steering? to me that translates to more accuracy especially on track. Anyone who has driven a standard 458 coupe knows how 'overboosted' the steering is- compared to a Pista which is really a ton better. Too light of a steering wheel and I feel like it's really the electronic nannies and not me. GT4RS and the new GT3RS could end up here. But, replacing the 675LT is almost impossible in my opinion. I'm dq'ing the BAC Mono as that is also perfect but not a real road car.

I felt like the STO had similar steering to the NFGT, maybe not in terms of weight but in terms of % reactive vs input angle...which is to say I loved it. Not enough real mileage in that to give a 'full hard review'. I don't have any time in the SVJ or Ultimae so not sure how to compare. Also no laps in 765LT yet. I was blown away by the new GTR Black Series though, as MB steering is usually same level of tactility as a baby deer on a frozen lake.

next tier of steering: Gen 1 NSX, CGT/997RS/Boxster Spyder/Senna/GT3/M5 CS/M4 CSL - really nothing to fault in terms of connection, in fact probably more practical in terms of effort for a road car, as they can all make U-turns etc.

Sold my 992 GT3 for the GT4RS. Initially breaking in the 4RS feels just like any other 718 and older 991 platform GT car, but a lot stiffer.

After driving it hard I definitely prefer the GT4RS, it feels like a sweet spot in 2022, with more mechanical and analog feel, just like the 997.2 RS having air cooled parts and mezger engine in 2011.

What did it for me is the noise, when you ring it up to 9k it sounds better than any GT car I’ve experienced. The way the PDK shifts is different to a GT3, combined with the engine/shorter gearing, it feels more sharp, more responsive and more explosive.

But what GT4RS does better than the GT3 is all fast driving and engagement, everything else GT3 is better. The GT4RS is horrible on the street, it rides rougher than a 10 year old + 997 GT3, and it’s way too clunky. EVO magazine confirmed this as well, I believe the achilles heel of the GT4RS is the suspension/shocks. If you want to commute, drive around town get the GT3.

If you commute, buy an RS6... GT4RS was intended to be a beast and that is what she is.

I daily drove my 997.2 GT3 for 4 years, put 60k miles on it with no problems in the snow as well.

I have no doubt that it can be done and really cool that you did. I would wager a bet that you would be one of the few who do/did relatively speaking. For me I need a daily that I can talk on the phone via bluetooth without much background noise, not be as focused on the drive as I need to be in a GT car and have room for passengers occasionally. I also prefer to have a car that can deal with crappy city roads and not require FAL to get around. I also like my daily to have some power. For me its a Cayenne Turbo for daily use.
