992 GT3 vs GT4 RS

we finally got GT4Rs for clients delivered. excited to hear it firsthand - anecdotal but I was approached by someone who is willing to sell their 4RS for a GT3 because of "how stiff the car is on the road". that frankly is why I sold my 19 3RS. it was not pleasant to daily. the track was amazing and it felt invincible there. the 22/23 GT3 on road is much more compliant and still wraps around you like an overly desperate cross fit girl.
Gt3 is stiffer feeling than the gt4rs, I think he just wants a gt3...granted neither is cushy to say the least 😂.

My impressions after a month of seat time in the 4RS and 6 months of time in the 992 GT3.
1. If you had to pick one, you'd go with the GT3 all day. No, it's not as visceral but the ride is better, the front turn in / steering feel is substantially better and it's all around more livable. I just repeated the "DOH" items -- but it bears repeating.
2. The 4RS is crazy fun with the air intake sound in the cabin. Ridiculous. The first time you downshift from 3rd to 2nd above 5k RPM and get this new "WHAP" sound on blip you actually LOL. It's intoxicating.
3. The 4RS has the more analog interior / buttons / instrumentation of the 991.2 911's/GT3s. Personally, I thought it was great and still prefer it over the "new" stuff in the 992 GT3.
4. Size wise, the 4RS is perhaps only a 1/2 foot shorter (not even that, really) than the 992 GT3. Neither is a "small/compact" car. So what -- they have had to grow the car to increase the track (mainly width), downforce, etc to keep advancing the performance. Doesn't bother me.
5. I am still breaking in the 4RS - which is a factor. I have seen the videos and can't wait to get into the upper band RPM bands. My understanding is I may need earplugs. Looking forward to that.
6. Both ridiculous cars that all but 5% here will never be able to wring out max performance.
7. If you want a car you can live with forever and still track it (and it's amazing), then it's the GT3.
8. If you wan to grab the keys and have "the g/f experience" every single time you drive, it's the GT4RS.
9. If you and your dealer have a good relationship (you are a repeat customer and allow them to make money off of you), go for both if you can get them.
10. To quote our old friend Ferris Buehler: "I highly recommend it".

My 2023 GT3 Touring arrives at the Port of Benicia tomorrow night.

Seeing the 992 3RS vs GT4RS side by side in that video was very telling- the 3RS looks so much more aggressive and was faster, cornered faster, broke harder, egads. Can’t wait to see it in the wild…have a 4RS incoming next month but would jump at the 3RS if the opportunity presented itself 😎

Neither GT3RS of GT4 RS is a multipurpose vehicle, each have different (significant) track attributes for given preferences and skill levels. As alluded to, by many, the 992 GT3 deserves the crown with regard to multi purpose - and the Touring being more deserving of the title.
For me, the real realistic comparison is a GT3 (non Touring) versus GT4RS; that's a rear/mid engine preference/comfort issue (for the driver). The GT3 RS, on an advanced level, appears to be a more extreme declaration of performance and challenge - for those who have the inclination/skill to exploit it.
The more serious and committed you are, the more the 992 GT3 RS beckons.

I like both. Wing is function before form. Touring is form before function. I find touring being very beautiful in still form but pitifully ugly when the wing is up. Meanwhile, the GT3 wing on a streetcar is crying for attention but it is a masterpiece to look at.

If you watch the Youtube videos online comparing the two, it is suggested that they may have a different alignment settings. Not fact, but it's hinted as such

alignment is like tire pressures. cars are still identical and i dont get why there is so much energy spent on trying to differentiate them. or why touring is in so much more demand and higher value. so weird. i get that the 70's rs versions were different but that was long time ago. they are the same car now

The 70's Touring version of the RS is the far less desirable version (worth a small fraction of the sportier versions). I find it sorta comical that the current Touring has such a halo around it and that Porsche is intentionally manipulating its desirability by limiting GT3 production to only 25% Tourings.

The 911 being more street and the cayman being more sport, with the RS being the exception?

The 2019 RS really is brutal on the road, it'll knock your fillings loose but also get rid of your kidney stones. I have a feeling the 992 GT3 RS will be similar or worse. I like the cayman platform but somehow feel a bit claustrophobic after having so many 911s. The balance is sublime but really like the dynamics of the "rear" engine. The GT3 and Touring likely better street cars and Having a 992 S I feel like porsche has made the 911 platform more sports oriented and the Cayman platform a bit more street oriented outside of the RS.

I must be strange. I thought the 2019 GT3RS was near perfect. Finally more like a sports car and not such a cushy grand tourer. The GT's had lost their mojo for a few years.
The GT4RS is even better. Assuming you like sports cars.
