GT3RS Allocation Thread

3RS definitely going up. Will continue to do so as well. Entire 991 platform is really good.

991.2 3RS I think will go downwards. It doesn't have anything desirable over the 992.1 GT3 RS and such will always be suppressed by the 992 value wise. The 997 has the high desirable and discontinued features of being a manual, Metzger, and hydraulic steering which has allowed it to supersede the 991. 991.2 RS doesn't have any features of that nature over the 992, except a front trunk, which I don't think the market will value.
Both of these cars will struggle to gain any significant value in the same way previous generations have mainly since the 991 generation was the first generation where Porsche went gung ho with the production numbers.

991.2 GT2 RS I can see going either direction. It depends on how much people value it being the last non--hybrid 2RS. So far, in most sports cars that have transitioned to Hybrid, there hasn't been a huge impact on people chasing after non-hybrid cars in the same way people chase after NA cars when the new models go turbo. This could always change in the future. Gotta remember that the GT2 RS was the first 2RS model to be produced in heavy numbers. Just prior to COVID they were selling for under sticker for low mileage.

I will have both 991.2 and 992 RS in the garage and do not plan to sell either.

Interesting thoughts. I think 3rs for sure will hold its own.
I just bought a 2rs so biased but feel it’s a very special car (also owned a 991.2 3rs). Still has a very analog feel and is scary fast. Has everything I really liked about the 991 generation but with turbos.
definitely tough to know where 2rs goes but think that the price gap between 991 and 992 is going to widen significantly and that should help 991 2rs value wise.
who knows how the hybrid tech is going to work out.
fun to speculate.

I also think the “raw” factor between 991 and 992 2RS is going to be very wide. 992 is going to be a tech machine with a lot going on

I don't see that happening for the same reasons @obbob stated. 991.2 3RS owners of course want to believe this, and it's an incredible car, but remember we are talking values right now, not how great the car is to drive (yes there is a difference). The 997 is the last of many things that seem to bring values up, the 991 doesn't have many, if any to drive values up. Calling the 991 analog I also think isn't accurate. People have different interpretations of what analog is but I've never heard a group conclusively believe the 991 of any car was the last "analog" of anything. That argument can certainly be made for the 997.2 3RS (manual, metzger, steering)
991.2 3RS is already very appreciated for what it is

I think the debate is more focused around the 991 being much more analog than the 992 and that is undeniable. So for those that still want that raw feel in a modern platform the 991 is a great option.
also, the topic was future value. Currently, 991 seems to be at all time highs. Question was will that continue (specifically to 2RS).
no one has a crystal ball but as someone who has had all 997, 991.2 and 992. I find that each have their place in the garage. 992 easily the most refined. 997 as raw as it gets, 991 nice middle ground.

For those luck enough to drive or own both, how do they compare on track? how do they compare on the road? Probably worth a separate thread.

I'm curious about 991 GT2rs comparisons to 992.1 GT3rs. They seem to have similar track times, albeit accomplished in different ways, brute horsepower vs extreme downforce. Depending on ADM levels, similia pricepoints.

992 3RS needs to be on track to get the tech really working, and lack of frunk and glovebox is not a small issue.

I currently have one 997, two 991, and two 992. All are great, and 991 is quite different from than 992 in terms of the more analog and cozy cockpit, and the car feeling smaller to drive. 991.2 3RS is the best 991 GT car, and much higher performance than 997 GT cars, and for that I reason I see values continuing to go up.

why do people say the 991 is more analog than the 992? because of the gauges? that doesnt resonate at all with me. that is just the ui being analog. all else behind the ui is similar. everything on that dash is a sensor connected to wires connected to the dash. and the one thing that counts - the tach - is still analog. i get that its a preference thing, like looks, but i wouldn't bank on such things mattering long-term. the 991 and 992 are very similar analog vs digital experiences in the actual stuff that impacts the way you interact with the car - steering, shifting and various digital stability control features

- Engine noise is much more metallic and raw
- Drives more like a 911 less like a mid engine super car
- Much smaller visually (even more with new RS)
The UI is very important. New car’s even analog tach is too pretty/elegant/nice. Old car’s gauges are like 20 year old 911 gauges.
