Will some S/T developments transfer to gen 2 GT cars??
I watched Matt Farah's review of the 992 touring vs S/T. Seems Porsche produced the S/T with a road bias. They apparently softened the dampening, eliminated the ADHD rear steering (sorry) and car is better off for it. I have limited experience with the 992s. I owned a GTS and sold it after a few months. I've driven standard carrera/S with manual and PDK and I drove a 992 GT3 winged car briefly with PDK. Both my GTS and the GT3 had rear steer and were darty. And both had rides that were unnecessarily hard for a road car (The GTS was just harsh on the rear axle even with PCCBs). The steering racks were a bit too quick on both.
So...Now that the S/T has proven the appeal of a more road biased GT3 (like ever gen of GT3 before the 992), and given that Porsche always - always make nice meaningful improvements from .1 to .2., I'm hoping that the GT3 992.2 is less nervous and more road biased like the S/T. I'm on the list and my dealer tells me 2-3 years. If the GT dept. continues to go the track car route, I'll re-evaluate and maybe audible to a T? And just for context. I love HPDE track days. I've done a bunch over the years (yellow RG), but I don't want to drive a WEC spec LMGT3 car to the office. And frankly, judging by the number of 992 GT3 trading hands recently as the market cools, I'm not sure the GT division's hardcore approach to the 992 has found a lot of love across the board?? Time will tell.

My hope is that the 992.2 GT3 Touring more closely approaches the character of the S/T, while I hope the Winged 992.2 GT3 becomes even more hardcore and track focused. I think it's a wasted opportunity (and unnecessary compromise) to make both the Touring and Winged cars identical except for the Wing (and some minor cosmetic differences). I just hope they continue to offer manual gearbox on the Winged car (the marketing of the PDK makes it seem like this is essential and so much faster for track use, which is overstated at best).

Yep, that's what I meant by the Touring approaching the character of the S/T (more road biased). Any guess as to whether the Touring will be Manual and the Wing will be PDK? Hopefully, both variants will retain a choice of gearbox...

The stiffness and lack of differentiation of my 992.1 Touring from the winged never bothered me. I think it's still pleasant to drive daily (which I do), stays more under the radar with lack of rear wing, then still performs incredibly well on track. I will still welcome the changes in the S/T, because it will be more compliant but simultaneously more visceral. If the .2 Touring is just more compliant without the added visceralness (new word), it would lose some of it's appeal in my eyes. But I do see the general market disagreeing with me, as the pool of GT car owners/buyers are not what they used to be...as Kobe would say, SOFT

I agree. I have zero issues with the suspension setup between the two and like being able to still run the touring as aggressively as the wing car but fly under the radar on those days I’m not in the bright colored car with big wing attention. My wing is the manual point A to A and my touring is the PDK for long distance trips with the wife to the further driving roads. She also has no complaints on the suspension or “harshness” that is constantly described.

That's the beauty of the Touring in my eyes, if you know you know type of car. That's also a huge draw for me to the S/T as well. 95% of people won't even know I got a new car when I trade in the Touring since it will be same color
