Early (Confidential) feedback from a journalist whom I trust and who has driven the ST in Italy today. ‘A step up from R in all respects .. limits are way higher here.’
And after driving her for 2 hours and then in the Touring to compare ‘Just did a drive in GT3 Touring for context. No comparison.’
ST, SC, 911R, 4.0RS, Speedster - what an amazing choice last few years. The next special one - 70s Heritage?
Next heritage edition should be the 992.2 Carrera RS, so yes, 70s Heritage. Afaik it’s a cosmeticly upgraded (by Exclusive Manufakture) Carrera GTS, in the way they upgraded the Turbo > Sports Classic

This consistent with what I’ve heard and a huge disappointment. The 2.7RS is the epitome of a Motorsports product and it’s a crime that its commemoration is coming from Exclusive, rather than GT (Motorsports).
As far as the limited Green trim edition on the 992 GT3 RS, this seems inadequate to me as well.
I’m sorta surprised that they didn’t build something like the S/T with a ducktail and all the 2.7RS cosmetic cues for the 50th RS special model instead of calling it the 911S/T.

Agreed. The S/T is the gem in this spate of limited editions from Porsche in my humble opinion. I believe this will be further proven as we start to see first driving impressions trickle in/when the embargo from the press test drives in Italy is over.

I wish they did this plus bored the 4.0L GT3 RS engine to 4.5L as a fitting tribute to the RS… something similar to what DeMann Motorsports does but from Porsche

Sounds promising. Thanks for sharing.

100%. Commemoration done by Exclusive tells you where PAG is headed. The RS tribute package is nice but just cosmetics is not enough. Agreed that it should be on part with ST development.
Agree completely. My 4RS is Black as well as my old 991RS WP. PPF in stone chip areas and Ceramic on all other surfaces make it a doddle to keep clean,
Ok, I had to look it up. lol
doddle
noun
A job, task or other activity that is simple or easy to complete.
Lets get back on track. So what’s the thoughts on Black ? It’s sexy AF / silver inside 100% but wonder how she would look with the Tan guts?
I love black cars and even have a black on tan 675LT Spider. I had a touring in black with Crayon.
I csnt help but feel black on this car looks great byt doesnt make it stand out as a special model. I am sure some people.will love that. For me, I am paying 60% more than a touring so I want something that looks different andna bit kore special.

That was my decision.
Totally agree, a special exterior adds to the overall enjoyment for me too.
This car is a keeper for me. I stopped saying that a while ago but this car ticks every box out of the 992 series. I’ve been waiting since the R for the inevitable next one knowing it was years away. I’m thankful to have the opportunity to do so now.
While I wait for an ST allocation (first in line at my dealer), I've bought another ST of sorts...
Today I bought a euro 1986 Carrera slicktop with 284k km (114k mi). Over the next 14 months or so, the car will undergo a nuts and bolts restomod to a 1972 911ST. Aim is ~2,150lbs and ~280HP. The car is being modeled after the Oslo Blue ST pictured below (76 911S). Silver car is my donor. Having both new and old STs around the same time will be goals for me.

Excellent! What are the details for the motor you envision?

3.4 with carbs and ITBs. Obviously upgrading cams etc when we open it up but keeping the mods to the low hanging fruit. I'm focused on getting the weight down more so than making big power. Thought about going 3.6 but even though I'm hot rodding it, it will be nice to keep the numbers matching. The box will likely remain intact. If anything, I may put a longer 5th as an OD for highway but still debating. Car will be mostly for b road and canyons.
I asked about that but a color from the 70s still has to be tested with modern paints on modern surfaces, apparently it’s almost irrelevant that it’s a historic color. The PTS+ process would take 12-18 months which would be longer than the ST production run.
I got this straight from JK at PCNA Exclusive.
You can take a paint chip off a wall to Benjamin Moore and they will match and mix up a can in 5 min. Porsche has the color codes and could easily use modern, approved paint and tint to produce its own historic color or any you like. Seems like a solution looking for a problem. A shame that porsche is ceding the field so easily on a $43k option by making it so seemingly, yet inexplicably difficult. The clear message is, we really don’t want to do this.

Not entirely true. You are stating your own speculative thinking, in reality it’s a lengthy difficult process to approve. Hence why even some colors that are approved, later get pulled.
