Subscribed. Great topic and wish you the best of luck. Very interested in this solution. Saw a 991.2 Touring with back seats at a golf course on Long Island and wondered if worked with / advised by Elfermotors.

Thanks for doing this! One of my primary reasons for switching to a GT3 from a GT4 would be the ability to add rear seats.

(There are people out there who would use the car a lot on track, preferring zero-option lightweight cars with stiff suspensions that are also otherwise track-focused, but still want rear seats. In other words, just because you want rear seats, doesn't mean you want to dilute the car in any other way. I'd want a winged car with rear seats so I could literally just take a 3rd person to the track to spectate.)

They can't do anything illegal is my guess, and this is not US legal for suah not CA legal.

I will do it too, thanks OP for helping as the pioneer!

AP explained this on Insta. Many areas of the car would need to be up-rated (read: heavier) to handle the US (at least) regs around 2 adult passengers back there at ~350 lbs. Suspension, tires, etc all change away from ethos of the car.

I get it, but I still wish Porsche would make the Touring it's own model line. Clearly there is demand, but so late in the NA engine lifecycle who knows if biz case would pan out, and they'd have to admit that turbo 3.0s aren't the be all and end all in a 911.

Let's see if any of these initial 992.2 rumors around NA engines in a 911 come true. Would likely scratch this itch to take kids out in a high revving NA 6....

Just a word of caution, if the worst were to happen and you had a bad accident, I’m sure the insurance company will take issue with the car carrying more then 2 occupants since the GT3 is only certified for 2.

That said, it’s your car, hope it works out.
Thus the value of working with a partner who has a history of TUV-approved mods .... still self insured, to be sure but some confidence,

Update. The back seat arrived. Scintillating picture, I know.

Only comment I will make is that it is ridiculously loud in the GT3, and having your little kids ears that much closer to the rear of the car will most certainly damage their hearing. The GT3 and in particular GT3 RS has been one of the loudest interiors of most cars (hitting 108dB WOT) in the cabin and that is not a good thing. Since the driver is probably at least 2 feet in front of the proposed rear seats, my guess would be there would be close to at least 3dB increase sound in the rear seat location because they would be that much closer to the engine.

For sure have them wear ear protection when in the rear seats, but seriously consider adding sound insulation: GT3 DIY sound insulation - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

Or, don’t drive like an ******* and go WOT with your kids in the car.

Thank you for the link. I am very interested in adding some sound deadening to my touring when it arrives (especially doors) as I love music and road-tripping in my sports cars. I think it will really add to the perceived quality of the cabin and let me hear more of the good mechanical sounds.

Love it. Added rear seats in my 997 gt3 for same reasons (easy for me as 997 1's have the hookup from the factory).

This^^^^. This is just getting kids where they need to go when they need to go in a pinch. Well worth it. The flexibility I will have will pay for itself many times over.

Update: 992 seat arrived from ebay. Total cost for all seat parts and belts right at $1k.

Now thinking about the upholstery.
Option 1: (if I go black interior on car), black leather with pasha inserts
Option 2: (if I go black interior on car), black leather with houndstooth inserts
Option 3: not give a crap and keep it beige (complete with the water/blood stains from the total car

Really like the blue/black houndstooth here. https://p1designs.com/fabrics/ Any thoughts appreciated.

I still haven't finalized my build. I have only changed my mind a thousand times. I am leaning towards getting 992 sport plus seats off ebay and having them reupholstered the centers to match the back seat with Pasha or Houndstooth. In retrospect, I probably should have waited for a black seat but I am impatient and don't really give an F.

Looks like a lot of work. I would just buy an additional car. Base 992 or maybe for half price, BMW M2 Competition. Good luck with this though!
