Is the airbag/horn "loose" on the newer units than on the old? I checked and the 3 hold-down bolts are tight, springs are in place, etc and the horn works fine - it's just that the entire convex horn pad (airbag) seems to shift quite a bit more than the old "flat" pad on my sport wheel
It's definitely more "wobbly" than the old style. Since it has 3 springs it moves in more direction than the old airbag. I wouldn't really call it loose though, are both springs locked.

yep both springs are locked - I would say "more wobbly" is an accurate description more so than "loose" so sounds like mine is fine - thanks

Has anyone ever deleted the Sport Chrono dial from a PDK wheel? Looking to buy 991.2 steering w/ Sport Chrono, use it on a 991.1 PDK with sport chrono, but not take advantage of the SC dial. Think this will be plug and play still? I just need horn and PDK paddles to work.

I know that if i wanted to use the Sport Chrono I would need the GPS brand adapter.

I've never tried, but I'm sure you could. It's all modular. You'd need to replace the back cover or you'd have a cutout for it. Not sure if you'd get an error, worst case you'd have to replace the steering wheel module with a non-SC unit, they're pretty easy to find.

Not quite, I’ve done this and the cutout is in the main/front trim. Back cover is not affected. The trim can be replaced with standard piece. The control unit doesn’t need to be replaced.

Sorry, you are correct. Had to go out and look at my wheel.

Then you have to decide if you want black or silver. Macan came with silver ring, 991 came with black. I think the black is more expensive from the dealer. Might check ebay.

Ya I want the black. Ideally I can source a used one or maybe I try to make a filler plate first, and if it doesn't work out ill buy the trim. Or ill buy the harness and just keep the dial....

I already have the sport steering wheel in my 991.1 however I would like to add multifuntion to it. Do I need a new steering wheel or can I simply swap out the center piece that holds the buttons?

the multifunction wheels are a totally different design - you can't reuse what you have at all unfortunately

I was afraid that was going to be the case. Time to put a parts list together I suppose.

I’m going to ask what is probably a stupid question…where do you hide the GPS adapter module? Is it behind the airbag? Behind the wheel in the column?

Ok, once I got in there and saw the layout, the location to hide the adapter made sense. I replaced my 991.1 sport design (no heat, no MF) with a 991.2 Alcantara sport (no heat, MF). No error codes. Horn and paddles work, but MF does not. I'm guessing I need to get MF enabled via code?
