You make a really good point here. A 3.0 turbo available in ranges from 370-450 hp is inferior to an already forgotten 3.4 offering less hp and torque.

Very similar to a 3.5 Ecoboost V6 in a lighter truck that runs circles around the 6.2 liter V8.

You know what I like? Being slow and convincing myself my motor offers something special because I can't afford the new one. Who's with me?

I drive both cars regularly as part of my job. No way I can see 991.2 as inferior to 991.1

Well.... no.
I found the 3.8 on a S with sport exhaust more attractive than the 3L TT 991.2, price difference helping a bit. But I was on the fence!
That being said, I agree the 3L TT may have lost a bit of 911 'spirit'. But it kicks butts and that means cheap easy to boost cars in a few years ;-)

Well, I bought my car brand new in February of last year just as my dealer received the 2017's.

I tested both the 2016 AND 2017. There was no question that the 2017 is the faster car, but I found it to be flat and less exciting at higher revs.

The 2016 although not as fast was the better car for me as I enjoyed revving the p1ss out of it. I took it home that day.

I traded in a cla45 amg. I think that car killed my outlook on turbo cars. Hated the power delivery and the sound. 2017 just reminded me of it enough for me to prefer the NA.

I would NOT describe the 991.2 as inferior.

By the way, what is the point of this thread? The p1ssing contest has no end.

The little turbo 3.0L doesn't have the same road manners as before. It makes me want the real turbo 911.

It's JMO from driving and owning a lot of new Porsche 911's. This is an internet forum in which you can offer your opinion as you drive each model.
well get "the real turbo" no one is holding you back. Perhaps you need some driving lessons

I'll offer you this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9858...carrera-s.html facts straight from the ECU of a 991.2 S

I own both a 3.4l and 3l twin turbo - I could share a detailed break down but there is little point. The facts are out there and its a topic thats been beaten to death. Enjoy your car

Sometimes its not what you say, but how you say it. Just because this is "an internet forum" that doesn't mean you should make statements that clearly will offend some and hide behind "this is an internet forum" as a BS excuse to be offensive.

The 991.2 is the better car in pretty much every way...

i own a 991.1 and personally love the drama of the NA 3.8. I drove both the 991.1 and 991.2 back to back before making my decision. This was just my personal preference.

It's my opinion that the 991.2 is the better car while the 991.1 is the better 911. But I would never call the .2 inferior.

Completely agree with this actually. And pretty much every generation change I feel the same way about as well.
