I am not going with the new 991.2
Just my opinion. I've read all of the reviews and drove a new 991.2 for two days as a loaner while my 991.1 was in for service. I usually trade every ~3 years for a new 911.
I love my old 2014 911 with it's 3.4L non-turbo engine. I've owned many of them along with the 996.
I see no reason to upgrade at $50k+ to get a newer but inferior car.

I have a 2013 Base Coupe, manual, nicely equipped for sport and comfort. I love it, and will keep it at least another 2-3 years.
Just curious why you feel the .2 is "inferior"? Have not driven one yet, but would consider one as the next Porsche.
Any thoughts you want to share?

It didn't have the overall drive ability of the 991.1. The 3.4L is just a better sports car engine to me.
The little turbo 3.0L doesn't have the same road manners as before. It makes me want the real turbo 911.
It's JMO from driving and owning a lot of new Porsche 911's. This is an internet forum in which you can offer your opinion as you drive each model.

I can understand your opinion about what the best 911 is for you. The 991.2 is inferior to you but superior to me. I drove a 911.1 with a 3.4 and really was disappointed with the engine. Doesn't really matter does it? Each of us finds a car that works for us and we are happy with it.

To each their own I guess...but yeah, Ill add on that you're one of the few that would ever put it that way. While I agree that 50k premium to trade up would be a little dire, the newer version is definitely superior. Now if we were talking about a 3.8l NA GTS model vs a newer base, then we have a whole other thought process.

I'm with you man. Ford will tell you the new Raptor with the V6 ExoBoost is superior in every way: more horsepower, lighter, better fuel economy. But if I were buying a Raptor, it would have to be the 6.2L V8. It's just the only way to go.
