What's new in v1.1:
- ShifterMax sensors have been updated to counter the latest threats including all DragonEye guns
- Fixed a TrueLock issue causing certain false alerts to not properly store
- Added K and Ka band narrow segmenting

Hi all. I am struggling with the current radar/laser choices. I have historically been a V1 guy and when I bought my Panny 6 years ago I had a V1 professionally installed with the display etched in the rear view mirror and a separate laser system. Everything worked well for me during the full time I owned the car. Now I have a new 911 and so far I'm confused by the current landscape, I'm just using my old V1 unit for now. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Nick from Musicar is putting a system together for me for my 991.2TTS consisting of a MaxCi360 paired with a quint-ALP system. It should be the best performing remote radar and laser combo out right now. If and when Escort gets their laser game in order, then I would be able to switch out the ALPs and start using Escort's jammers. However, it is hard to imagine ALP's falling behind other competitors if one doesn't need 6 heads. 5 is plenty enough for me already.

No one can touch the ALPs now. You should ask if he is installing the new TX heads.

I think this will be the first MaxCi360 system Nick is adapting to a 991.2TTS. He still needs to work out the mounting of the OLED display since he said that it won't show through as well as the STiR's dot matrix display behind the smoke acrylic in the top center console. I've sent Nick an email asking about the TX heads. Hopefully ALP is shipping out those heads in all of their new systems and that Nick also has them. Thanks for the heads up.

So I was reading a little about the TX heads. It appears that it is not recommended to install one if it will be close to the ground since you may get some bounce back. So I it seems 3 regular sensors in front, 1 regular sensor in back, and 1 TX sensor in back is the way to go with a 911.

And although I love Escort's radar detection devices, they have been very bad in keeping their laser detection devices current with real world tech. So I'd think long and hard about spending that kind of bread with Escort until they prove they're going to keep the laser detection tech up to date with firmware updates. I think ALP is a safer bet today.
In addition the key issue with ALP is no radar. I know they offer NetRadar, but I have NetRadar dual and I find it is rubbish.

I'm currently using the Escort Passport MAX2, on a BlendMount underneath my rearview mirror. I'm now thinking about a permanently installed system, so I've read through this thread and started to do some research on my own. I noticed that this thread doesn't mention the K40 RL360i. Is there a reason for this? Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the product? Thanks.

No first hand experience with the K40 but on the RD forums, K40 systems are pretty much a joke compared to Escort/Bel, ALP, Stinger, Rodenso, Valentine, etc. Or at least their laser jammer portion is a joke.

I agree with all that. It's a good sign for CI 360.

Agreed. From what I've always heard, K40 is pushed by a lot of installers because they're easy to install and have a better dealer markup. But they're really a mass market device and do not compare tp the others mentioned.
