Piggy backing on this thread: If you order the genuine Porsche part, and get it painted to code, it should be a perfect fit correct ? Not like it needs massaging to the car first ? (it is a real porsche part). Then install, then go to the dealer (slowly) to recode the spoiler activation and disable it? Or are you better off letting the dealer also install it for you ?

Yes. All OEM parts are going to fit. As for paint, you should be able to get a perfect match with the right paint code and a good shop (can't guarantee your shop will do a good, great, or excellent job however!). You will need the re-code, but you can certainly install yourself easily. Also if you install the new part properly, no reason you can't drive normally to the dealer.... I believe you disconnect the active-aero rear spoiler motor if you are installing the ducktail, for example.
Yes, all parts att genuine Porsche.
I know about the coding.
I do not think this is a big issue, but if someone can explain how I remove the old spoiler/wing I'll be happy.
What screws do I have to remove to get the whole wing, including motor etc. release?
Seriously, the removal is a simple procedure that you should be able to knock-out in 30 minutes or less. I've posted a removal guide with reference illustrations (from the official WM's) that should be helpful to anyone interested. Plenums Blog -- 991 Rear Spoiler Removal
Please take some pictures of your own project and let me know if you'd like to add them to the post for benefit of the community!
Helpful video, no doubt and thanks for posting the link....
However, just FYI for anyone focusing purely on the rear spoiler removal -- you don't have to remove the bumper cover -- just remove the screws along the top edge. In the video, the owner is removing a lot of rear bits that you won't have to worry about. Skip to 16:45 where he identifies the t-45 screws and seating pins. But unfortunately at that point he does't actually show removal of the wing and motor assembly! If you skip to 21:10 he already has the spoiler back on the car and identifies the electrical connection but again, has skipped-over the installation. Might be obvious to some, and the video is helpful for visual identification.
I have heard something about modifying cables and control units! Is this correct?
Joacim
Control units? Yes, you will need a different control unit for the Sunroof if you car is equipped with that. Changes the angle of the open roof to work with the changed rear aero.
Cables? What cables? No cables involved in the rear aero.... All mechanical.
Porsche has not announced a ducktail for the 991.2's and we believe it's due to the new cooling for the turbos. We might get lucky in the future but nothing at this time
