You are correct, it won't matter for the average buyer.
I hear you! its the end of an era ...

but the new car sounds pretty cool ... some nice new features... RWS, FAL, multi-modes, GT3 brakes ...

Just like all good things, the NA engine will make a come back at some point!

Looks like Porsche will always have some NA options in the GT cars in the foreseeable future.

phew!
My guess ....

The 991.2 will NOT have the GT3 sized rotors/calipers. I'm guessing they just threw them on here for test driving purposes to push it harder.

Rear wheel steering may have been a bit necessary with the increased rear weight for max performance as an option?

You think they dropped the side mufflers? Probably where the intercoolers may be now?

Having one 3.0 engine is definitely a savings for Porsche. 3.8 sounds much better

I hope so, but its pretty late in the game for a mule to not be close to production trim!

I thought I read somewhere recently that they had returned to a single "overhead" intercooler model... under the decklid, but I could be mistaken.

It would seem more likely that they have smaller "per-turbo" intercoolers down low ... but again ... I guess we will see!

I saw that, there are clearly a couple of ducts down there which might be associated with intercoolers, which is what I guessed they were when the 1st spy shots appeared, but it could also just be there to vent hot air from
the turbos ... and a single intercooler sits on top... thinking about it, given that
this is a facelift, I think its more likely that the intercoolers are on the sides, as
a top mounted one might require significant modification to the decklid etc

Doesn't look bad actually. And I'm sure Porsche went out of their way to improve steering, transmission, and handling to make up for the "loss" of the engine. I assume the 7MT is out of the GTS and probably the steering calibration too.

Car looks great in coupe form in either darker (black) or shiny colors (or red in this case), but that rear end definitely looks funky on a Targa, especially when it the car is white in color.

I really hope these GT3/Turbo spec brakes make it to the Carrera S models, the current 340mm discs are a bit small for a car of this size and speed.

It would be pretty weird to have a near-production vehicle paired with brakes that won't make it to the production vehicles, as you need to swap out not only the calipers and rotors, but also the master cylinder, vacuum brake booster, and ABS programming to make it work. There is almost no point of testing the car with oversized brakes that won't be in the production.

I say negative on the larger brakes. Very $$$, and only one spy shot car has been spotted with them. In this case, Achleitner doing the driving putting on a dog and pony show. No mention anywhere on the brake upgrade and all other photos have shown the 991.1 brakes.

Anyone ever complained about the stopping performance of the S brakes?

To add, you swapped them out as an upgrade yourself off a Turbo 991. So these guys don't think they came from the factory. I agree, the look is nice.

Did you change the master cylinder at all? I assume this is a plug-and-play replacement, with no modification to the stock hub carrier, correct?

You will notice the difference after a few repeated highspeed stops. Larger disk means high heat capacity, so lower operating temp for the rotors and brake pads.

It actually isn't as expensive as you think.

Carrera S/GTS brakes:
Rotors: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...135140401.html
Calipers: http://store.paramountauto.com/oe-porsche/99135142313

Turbo/GT3 brakes:
Rotors: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...135140602.html
Calipers: http://store.paramountauto.com/oe-porsche/99135242712

It would be great if they include this as an option. Much more cost effective than upgrading to aftermarket BBK or those silly PCCB.
