991's aren't holding value well! Almost dipping into 997.2 territory. In some cases below.
I wonder if that is due to the greater production numbers vs the 997, or the 997 being a big more "raw" feeling and desired for many enthusiasts? Not that the 991 isn't a great car, but it isn't quite what longtime P-car enthusiasts think of when they think 911. The local dealer says that when they get a 997.2 manual in stock, it will fly out the door. Yet a 991 manual will sit for months even if it is only $10k more. Clearly the 991 is worth $10k more for the performance, so there must be something else going on.
STG amazing thread, what am I getting for the 60-65k that my wife will let me spend? Can I find a C2/C4 with PDK and options with under 24k in that range? I was happy with the power in my 993 and the 997's I have driven, assume base C2/C4 is enough for me. Have two kids 5-7 so figure a bit more room wouldn't hurt.

I was looking at 996/7 Turbos before buying my PDK 991.1 C2S. I only considered manuals for 996/7 Turbos, but was leaning toward PDK on the 991.
Two reasons for above:
A. I did not love the idea of a 7-speed manual
B. I did not love the idea of "old" PDK, and no way on Tiptronic
Just as another data point for you: The dealer I bought my C2S from this past fall had a well-priced 6-speed 997.2 Turbo gathering dust on the lot.
Yeah the 991 is holding very strong. The initial depreciation that is present on almost all 911's is there, but then it just sits in same area.
I would expect prices to start to climb again now that spring and summer are almost here.
Like all generations, the 997 is perceived as being good because it is more raw. It is a cycle that never ends and never will with P-cars. With each generation we do move further away from the original. Some call that natural progression, others call it blasphemy.
IMO, I understand the progression and I do think the 991 will be viewed as the perfect 911. It is not monstrous like the 992 appears to be, still N/A, perfect interior and still has the visceral feel.
Nice price point with a great build. PDK, SC, and SPASM. Looks very clean from pics. Look at that interior! The espresso compliments the white well.
These guys in Costa Mesa seem to have decent reviews. For around a $70K C2S, a nice option. Downside? Out of warranty. Probably needs 20K service, etc. Still, not a bad deal. Just like any pre-owned car, there is maintenance. This, or you jump up to $80-$90K.
The very best-deal first-year C2S 991's without high miles seem to be hitting mid 60's, very occasionally low 60's. C4S's typically have higher stickers and weren't offered in the first year, so they get a double-bump in price. A ton of nice C2S cars in the 70K range.
Best deal first-year C2 non-S without high miles seem to be hitting low 60's, with some dipping down into mid 50's. Again, no C4 models first year...
Moving to newer cars, super low miles, super-high original price, and cars with CPO all bump the price.
Bottom line a very nice 2012.5 C2, PDK Sport Chrono, under 30K miles under $64K shouldn't be too hard to find. I've seen several in the past few months...
As for C2 vs C2S, personal preference. For no terribly logical reasons, I like C2 manuals just fine, but prefer the S when coupled with PDK. If you do go PDK, Sport Chrono is really important if you don't want lazy PDK shifting and can't be added on 991's.
Wow. Articulated very well. Better than I can do. I'm retiring. You guys have this!

Get on the 991.1 train now.
Agree. Plus "last of the street NA's". Great way to go out if you must.
Right on, I saw this one, has an accident in its history but still got CPO. I assume it was just some paint work on bumper.
That is pretty much the target, higher optioned C2 with 3 years of warranty left.
If I recall correctly it was very minor damage to a bumper with repaint. My 02 C4S had the same type of damage. Rear bumper was bumped. i replaced the bumper with paint to match but it still hurt my resale.
