I recently saw a later model S for sale, 2015 i think, that had been repurchased by Porsche and resold at auction. Under the various state lemon laws the buyback reasons are required to be disclosed. Explanation from Porsche, "Rattles" which were repaired. Given it's the 3+year of the 991, you would think they have that remedied.

How can a buyer determine if it's a lemon or buyback? Is it disclosed on Carfax?

Are PCNA/dealerships mandated to report a car is a buyback/lemon?

I believe always will be noted on CarFax. I would hope that a dealer would mention it as well. Must be disclosed I'm sure.

This was true in my case, when I had an SUV voluntarily repurchased by the manufacturer (I did not have to invoke the Lemon Law). When I ran a subsequent CarFax, it showed in BOLD RED all caps "VEHICLE REACQUIRED" on the date of reacquisition and then again when it was reported to the state for registration CarFax shows "MANUFACTURER BUYBACK OR LEMON REPORTED." It was auctioned off and ended up half way across the country. Due to varying state laws re branded and washed titles, I would not rely on selling dealer to tell you, but you can't miss it being flagged on CarFax.

Default I bought a base 991 cab with 28 k miles plus CPO for 60,300 in SoCal

I'd personally be happy with $57-59K

Welcome. Smart idea coming here first. You came to the right place! Look back at some of our listings and informational posts. Free education.

Have a budget? Coupe or cab? If you're as flexible in color and options as you seem, the right car shouldn't be hard to find. Assuming you have some flexibility in your budget. The $75-$90K range is a nice sweet spot with a decent amount of CPO cars to choose from at great discounts off MSRP and low miles.

Thanks !!!! I always come to the forums first my budget is 70-75k. I'm looking for a coupe the only problem is I'm in the car business so it's so hard for me to find something that I feel is a "deal". STG are you in Milwaukee ? Looks like the art museum in the background of your picture.

Looking for an S or base model? Yes, Milw area.

We've had plenty of deals here that many have been envious of, even Porsche dealer sales guys.

$70-$75K is a tougher range to look for an S, but there are cars. Usually with 20-30K miles in most cases. The market has had an upswing this year and prices have been strong.
