The issue here is, most sales guys want the easy sale and don't want to put too much effort into it.
A business "owner" thinks different than someone working "for" a business. Many times employees, don't see the big picture like an owner does. Obviously I know we both get it, but wish everyone else did. It would benefit themselves AND their employers.
Yep. I walked into my dealership that had serviced my Boxster for years and told the salesman I wanted a used Aqua 911. He told me the color didn't matter and to just buy a random color on the lot that had the options I wanted.
The second salesman I talked to said she'd go out and find one for me at other dealers, but then did nothing and didn't even bother to call me when the one showed up in their inventory.
Walkabout, I totally agree with you. Was offering the unfortunate explanation.

Or even put ANY effort into it. When I was searching earlier this year I visited 6 different dealerships and made 2 offers on 2 cars that both fell through. Not one of those dealerships ever called me back. Not even the guys I waved the best part of a hundred grand in front of. I think it's stunning.......business must be too good for these guys.

There is a bit of arrogance with the Porsche and other high end dealers. You chase them, not the other way around. Was shopping for a hard to find Japanese SUV for the wife which I ended up finding out of town. Had contacted like 4 different dealers. Had to beat them off with a stick to stop emailing/calling. One still called me yesterday after 4 months of buying one to see if I was still in the market. Politely told them I had purchased and to take me off their list. I commend them for chasing the sale though.
Don't believe what anyone tells you, there is a lot of true profit on the new models. For dealers, you make money on used cars in volume. As traditional sports car dealerships turn into more full services product lines(sport utes, 4 door models etc), there's more money in those buckets than the sports end. It'$ dollars and cents.
All model CPO sales and Macans are carrying the $$$ payload. They're pushing the new 4cy Macans HARD. Flooding the dealers with them.
911 sales are down over 2015. 991.2's not getting the love they expected and I predicted. Although, some of it is economic as well. The higher MSRP models have slowed and reflected in huge CPO sales increases. Some signs in different areas of the economy are predicting an upcoming recession and/or economic slowdown. Could be short term, or a big bubble burst in 2017/18.

Picture link broken. [ETA fixed]
People might also wait for the outcome of the election or unconsciously not have the confidence needed for new 911s while that show is going on.
Sorry if already posted, it is a manual, has SC and sport techno wheels. Not a huge hot deal but thought the manual may interest some. Clear side markets probably make it a Porsche fan.
Sorry if already posted, and I can't get the decoder currently but pretty sure it is a manual, has SC and SPASM. Not a huge hot deal but thought the manual may interest some.

Funny! I actually know the previous owner of this car. I haven't seen the car in person, but from what I know, it's a one-owner car that was well taken care of.
Thx STG, I updated my post after getting the decoder to work.
