HOT FOR SALE: Pick of the Week 991

we purchased a 2012 991 C2s cab and a 2014 c4s cab off photos from two different CA dealers. Both were as advertised, but both had the typical Porshe front bumper rash. Both dealers made it (partially) right after delivery - one in person, one off a transport. Not happy about the "like new" sales description but we weren't left hanging either. Scott Py at Porsche Rancho Mirage and Brett at Sonnen. Both cars were hot deals and both ended well.
Be up front and firm from the beginning and a good sales guy will respond accordingly. If they don't, move on.

I bought an audi a4 avant a few years ago sight unseen from Continental audi in Illinois. Car had undercarriage body damage and PO had 2 dogs and the car smelled soo bad and was full of dog hair. They didn't even bother cleaning the car. I will never buy a car sight unseen especially a $80,000 car.

Three Wheelin'
which goes back to, no matter the historical documents of services completed (it does help), the only person that knows the true history of a car is its original owner(s). cars on dealer's lots look nice because of where they are, it doesn't mean they're exactly as advertised, and that's where warranties come into play. hec, i'm not sure how important a CPO is beyond the additional warranty years and tire tread depth!

Too late. They said it was sold yesterday (5/28). Great info in this thread. I don't really need a car until Nov. unless it is a smoking deal and I'll pull the trigger. I like an S with CPO, Pdk, light miles, sport Exhaust, chrono package, Pano, aero cup, SPAsm and 2012-present at near 40% off original MSRP. Missed the white one in New York and this one but kindly keep posting. One day I'll have my first P Car since I have previously owned 2 BMW M5s and now want to track something new. Thanks
[QUOTE=STG;13329205]Nice 2013 CPO 4S. Almost $50K off MSRP with ONLY 11K miles
Couldn't find it on their website. Didn't want to spend too long on it. Park Place has so many dealerships.

Ok, so 10 replies on something we already knew. Do your homework when buying any used car from a dealer OR private owner. Pretty much a given.
You have the potential to be given the shaft by both. I've seen cars FSBO that have more drama than a bad Housewives reality show. Some on Rennlist here.
Anyone find any cars worth posting?

Chicago has a lot of shady independent used car dealers.
Paying the dealer to do a third party inspection as you did in case #2 was a good idea. They have no vested interest in you buying the car. You are paying for the inspection too.
If you rely on the seller giving you all the inspection info, thats definitely not an unbiased inspection many times. It's in their best interest to sell the car at any cost most of the time.

The sweet CPO 2016 Rhodium Silver GTS in Austin is now on eBay at $120k minimum bid. It is loaded at $139.3k MSRP. With only 1100 miles on it is pretty much like new. Still a little pricey for my budget in retirement, tho. He'd have to make me a big trade offer for my Macan Turbo, and that would still be hard for me because I'm in Chicagoland for the Summer.

I love this GTS, I have seen it in person, and would buy it for the right price . . . but . . . ALWAYS order deviated carpet when you select two-tone leather interior.

I am not sure if service even bedded-in the brake yet.
It was an easy and smooth transaction despite their (LA Downtown Porsche) low rating.
thx

Selling FSBO is a tough gig. Try and make a fast and painless deal for the seller. There's value in that and gives you leverage.
