Both those dealers have no questions asked return policies - so my guess is someone bough the cars, had a PPI done, did not like results, and returned them. Does anyone on here know the story on these 2 cars?

Thanks!

They were probably never sold. Anyone can put a car on hold at these places. I had an Audi in purchase pending status for 3 weeks while carvana was reconditioning it. I ended up going with a different car because of timing. I never did see the car let alone buy and return it.

Alternatively, people could have taken advantage of the carmax "love your car guarantee." You can return the car up to 30 days later with less than 1500mi for a full refund. I wonder how many folks are willing to put down that kind of money to get a free joyride?

Sometimes, on carmax at least, the car will disappear if someone schedules a test drive. don't know anything about those two.

for what its worth i've returned two 911s to carmax. one that had an unsatsifactory dme report at ppi and a second that had accident show in carfax but not autocheck. on the latter i randomly decided to check the carfax after the return period. which at the time was one week. I think i returned it around 1,000 miles and 2.5 weeks. showed them the accident on carfax. asked for a $10k refund to keep the car. they declined. didn't fight me at all. took the cars back. both returns were easy peasey.

That is really good info - thanks! I do not love the prospect having to buy the car just for a PPI, but the conscience is sure there!

I have read a few threads on RAC Performance which is just up the road from me, and have stopped in a few times. They have a silver 991.1 I really like, but honesty seems about $5-10k higher than private party. They have it had for a few months now. Anyone ever have luck negotiating with them?

Been lurking on this board for awhile, and am interested in a 991.1. Any thoughts on this car: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...Id=659999826&=

The price seems decent for the milage and build but it's been sitting for a bit and the price has dropped a few times. Would love some more experienced insight to see if I'm missing something.

For the MSRP this is a good deal; well optioned, low milage. I would run a carfax to see if there is an accident listed there that isnt on the autocheck.

That's too cheap. I paid $106k for my '15 4S with 17k. There's always a reason....

They don't offer a carfax, but do an Autocheck. Autocheck is BS and never reports correctly (cars with accidents say no accidents). Shady dealers use them on purpose for that reason and to legally stand by "but we use Autocheck so we had no knowledge", but unless you're a fellow dealer you have access to see what they know behind the scenes...
I still have all my access from when I was a dealer:
RUN. DO NOT buy this car lol.

Issue #1: They just tried to run it back to the dealer auction with 29,8xxx miles and no one bid on it, and you'll see why in a second.

Issue #2: It was ran with cleared codes and readiness not set. There IS an issue that they either cannot fix or will cost too much to. There WILL be a check engine light on, for who knows what, within the next maybe 50miles of purchase. I see it has aftermarket exhaust too, so at first I thought it may be missing cats, but that wasn't disclosed at the dealer auction. That means it will be a nasty surprise for someone, whatever it is.

Issue #3: Title is branded (forever) as a stolen and recovered vehicle. Not the end of the world but may be a hurdle for resale. That also did pop up on the Autocheck, surprisingly, but it was burried deep in the info. It'll be front and center in Red on the Carfax with the accident (you'll know more about that below lol).

(Possible Issue)#4: I'm unable to pull a Carfax at the moment but there was 110% a substantial accident or two. Someone else may need to pull it for you.

Issue #5: (!!!!!!!!) There are a great deal of repairs and paint work from damage (see below). The front bumper, driver fender, driver door, driver quarter panel, rear bumper, and passenger quarter were all repaired and painted. Holy cow batman. If for some reason that's not reported on Carfax, that's an even bigger issue and you WILL find hidden damaged goods...

Note: They list that the build had 20" Sport Design wheels, which is not what's on the car now. They could have gotten destroyed in the accident and replaced with these 991.2 RS Spyder wheels it has now.

PS. This is all without even looking at the car in person. I carry my paint meter in my daily driver just in case still too, just in case. If anyone ever needs a professional eye on a car physically in the NJ area, let me know. $200

You can see this in their pictures too:

^ Obvious signs the front bumper was caved in too.

What a great analysis! If I was buying a car in that area I would definitely use your services!

The blue key in the holder stumped me, but a simple google image search showed car was previously advertised there with a blue wrap.
Another reason to be cautious about a wrapped car... never know what's underneath.

Default Great deal on 991.2 c2s cab?

Hey all,
Here's what I think is a very good deal on a 2017 991.2 C2s cab, 33k miles, original MSRP $138k. Asking price currently $102k (has dropped a number of times; has been listed for >5mo initially at $115k). It's basically the lowest price 991.2 C2s cab I see around the country with that kind of mileage and good options. Car looks to have a clean car fax, with several prior owners.

I've been watching the car out of curiosity, but it doesn't quite tickle my fancy. I'm not sure why this car isn't selling, though.

Any thoughts? Seeing if I can learn from the experts here. Or maybe this is truly a great deal and someone will see this here and snap it up?
