What this thread has done for CPO 991 sales is unbelievable. We should be shown a lot of love from all the dealers that benefit.
We've done almost too good. These used 991.1's are HOT!

Funny thing is, .2 sales are no better than the .1's were at the tail end of that mid cycle generation. Says something.

I will say that without the build sheet tool, I would have otherwise not even looked at a 911. Too many a la carte options and unique individualization choices to be spending lots of time and legwork to ask dealers for the window sticker for EVERY single car you might be interested in.
Thanks to the build sheet tool and and this thread, though, my 911.1 is getting loaded on a truck sometime next week.

I'll offer up my craigslist search tool I built that will let you search all the major metro craigslist sites for car ads by year and keyword if anybody is interested.
Way better than the results you get from searchtempest or other craigslist searches that have a real hard time finding car specifics.
Craigslist has some pretty good custom fields for car searching they don't take advantage of.
PM me for details--I need to keep the link off the forum for privacy sake and so it doesn't get too much traffic, so if it goes mainstream I'll have to take it down.... but until then, send me a message.

I recently traded my 991 S for a 2014 991 Turbo. Prior to the purchase I contacted three Porsche dealers that I had done business with previously. One tried to purchase my 991 S at a very low price and the other two showed no interest at all. I ended up buying the Turbo out of state and trading my 991 S to the out of state dealer.
My question is are these guys just basically lazy or do dealers not sell there used inventory to other dealers? With just a little work on the internet I was able to find three Turbos that fit my needs and make a deal.
Why would the local Porsche salesman not be interested in facilitating a transaction like this. It seems to me if you have a ready, cash buyer and a very desirable trade it would be a no brainer. I guess I don't understand the car business.
Maybe you guys can enlighten me.
Thanks

Sometimes dealers will try and trade NEW cars and allocations with other dealers to sell to a LOCAL customer.
Trading in a used car in from another dealer for a local guy to purchase isn't too likely or common. Too many risks, uncertainty, and usually not profitable for them to do it. Not to mention, why would a dealer give up a nice used car they have in inventory? They'd rather keep it and make the sale $$ themselves.
Assuming this is your question??

Thanks STG, I suspected that might be the case and I understand these concerns.
Not to argue, but I think a better business model would be to at least make the call. If the sale could not be done at least an effort was made, and the customer would know you were working on his behalf. In this case both cars were very low miles, and under warranty/CPO so the risk was minimal.
I guess I just have a different view on how businesses should operate. Maybe that is why my business was very successful while others were failing.
STG, thanks again.

Walkabout, I totally agree with you. Was offering the unfortunate explanation.
The issue here is, most sales guys want the easy sale and don't want to put too much effort into it.
A business "owner" thinks different than someone working "for" a business. Many times employees, don't see the big picture like an owner does. Obviously I know we both get it, but wish everyone else did. It would benefit themselves AND their employers.
Some of the sales guys I mention here get it. Although, they are the exception rather than the norm (hence their success).
By the way, congrats on your new Porsche purchase/trade in!
