I live in the area and haven't really heard of these guys. They are located on Monument Blvd., which is not known for being an area where auto dealers are located.
I will stop by and check it out if you are interested.
So most of the early 991's need a modification to the PCM itself to add a backup camera. We've done it plenty of times with great success but there are only a handful of dealers/techs in the country that would actually perform that job.
The defining factor on whether or not that's needed is the PCM software version. Press "INFO" and "SOURCE" together on the PCM to display that info.
SW V3.X = Modification Required
SW V4.X = No Modification Required
As far as price goes, a backup camera without modification should land around $1,200-$1,500 and a modified version should be $1,500-$,1800 — parts and labor. Of course that all depends on who's performing the work and what the labor rate is.
Hopefully that gives you the insight you were looking for.
Thanks to both you guys for this. So, is there a "safe" model year (i.e., was the software updated in all '13s or '14s or '15s going forward?
I would not want a car without this feature as I enter my dotage.

There's no real production date changeover that I'm aware of. If you're interested in the car, just have the dealer press those buttons and let you know. Kind of sucks for the internet browsing, but if it's a criteria for you to have it then that's what you'll have to do.
On that note, I don't think I've come across any 2014-2016 MY 991's that didn't have 4.0+ .... but, my memory sucks so I wouldn't trust that observation much.

I think it changed over to 4.0 in 2013's sometime.
** Would be good to have some guys on here check their versions and report back! **
Me personally, the view out the 991 and window is very good. Don't miss not having it. On a bigger car/SUV it's very helpful.

I suspect that some convertible nerds might be paying attention here
(personally it has been a long time since I had anything else than a convertible. I just go out the car a lot to check, I hold up a mirror, look out the open door etc)
I have to admit that the 991 Targa might get me a fixed rear window at some point. Too bad there is only this short time windows of 991.1 targas.

My 2015 C2S was built in Oct 2014. My recollection is it had V4.1 My NAV died this summer and was replaced. They said they put in the latest software. It's PCM 3.1, V4.76, updated 7/20/16. Mine has the parking sensors, but I do miss having a backup camera.
Well, thanks to STG and the gang here, I found my C2S and am in the process of driving it back to the Midwest from eastern PA this week with my copilot... now I just need to figure out the part # for a tool kit cover.
Looks like somebody broke the connecting tab inside mine and it came loose on the interstate and dumped the contents all over the empty trunk. Took me a while to figure out what the clanging noise was that was coming from the front end every pot hole
It seems like an awesome car for the money with that Carfax, History and options list. They are asking 28% less than MSRP for CPO. I got my CPO 2015 C2S at 29% below MSRP, but the Turbo is in a different league. A new 991.2 C2S coupe (3.0 Twin Turbo) will cost substantially more than this Turbo with similar options. If you want a Turbo with PDK, and u like the color and options, it looks like it's well worth negotiating. I say go for it, but start a little lower. If u have a trade, that requires a different negotiation. But this 991.1T certainly seems worth it, if u like it.
Selling my 991S 2012 on Rennlist. Great car. Just don't drive it enough to keep it ( and no the solution in my case is not only to drive it more). Priced to sell at $62,500 at a little under 15k miles. Great car. No problems. Garaged winters. Girls are too big to fit in back and wife doesn't want to drive it ( and no exchanges on either the girls or the wife :-).
