991 issues update and lemon law filling
#151
Quick update.
First of all, thank all of you for the support and advice you have given me here, simply outstanding that so many of you would take the time to give advice and feedback I am so very grateful to you all. It really means a lot to get support from the owners community. You guys/girls are amazing you truly are. I want to buy you all dinner : )
Good news is that we have progress from PCNA they have called me and expressed regret in the handling of this case and so far been very open and upfront about what they want to do for me. I also got calls and emails from Porsche in Germany. So lots of positive movement.
They also have the regional rep looking at my car. Basically they are talking about buying my car back or getting me a new one. The lemon law arbitration is only a few days away now so if PCNA don't fix this for me then Connecticut Consumer protection laws certainly will. They say it is as strong case as they have ever seen.
So good news. Stay tuned.
Oh I have a Cayman as a loner so I will do a video on that : )
Thanks again everyone.
Nick

I've enjoyed nmurray22's videos, and one of them even sold me on ordering PAS/ACC on my car that's arriving in 5 weeks, but this smells like a dealer botch job on the radar detector install, not a PAG manufacturing defect. The dealer's behavior suggests as much.
Among dealer/manufacturers relationships, it seems to me that Porsche dealerships are a bit more independent than other car brands and that many of them are hocking all sorts of third party mods, from Techart and Sharkwerks, to HRE wheels to Escorts and tinting and films. I was surprised that the Porsche franchise agreement allows this to happen, or that Porsche turns a blind eye to it, but I guess it's the clientele that drives this. I've been told by this subset of dealers that these mods are "authorized" since they were performed by a dealer, but I know they are just lying to me, because other dealers have confirmed there is no such thing as Porsche authorized third part mod work. Among these same dealers (which I came across while canvassing the country looking for a suitable lot Porsche (new or CPO'ed)), I was surprised to come across a number of cars that fell outside of CPO requirements due to mods but were getting CPO'ed anyway. Wink-wink. Maybe Porsche knows this and winks back because they they want those same repeat customers, or maybe they don't.
We will probably never find out the truth about the root cause of these electrical issues, but to some of us, it is relevant whether this was directly PAG or PCNA's fault (because of a manufacturing defect), or merely indirectly their fault for turning a blind eye to incompetent third party installs informally performed under the Porsche dealer moniker. To others, perhaps the ones who are outraged by the events in this thread, the difference doesn't matter for the same reason that the customer is always right, even when they are wrong. But this leads to a countervailing opinion...
To the extent we all expect PCNA to compensate owners whose cars are screwed up by all of these third party mods because they were performed under PCNA's dealer badge, guess who is paying for them? The rest of of us... maybe this is why Porsche options are marked up so much.
Here's to hoping the MY2016 cars will have factory installed Escort option, but it will probably cost more than the Burmester.

No one will modify my car....period. I have had 3 previous 911's that have all been modified to some degree. Some things worked out well but others did not. An x-pipe bolt on maybe but anyone who does anything to the electrics (ie radar detector etc) is playing with fire. It's a very complex computer system. Leave it alone. Would you take off in a jet after the pilot told you an aftermarket company had "modified" the engine. No you wouldn't. As far as I'm concerned it's your problem and not Porsche's once you modify. To Nick---great guy---great video's. Too bad it was him but imho still a bad decision. Flame me if you want but you get what you pay for.

Not a big fan of aftermarket mods...I just get the car "exactly" I want it with factory options. I guess folks like me are making Porsche margin rich...
Having said that...op: what's the latest??

These are cars sold to enthusiasts (generally), some level of modding is to be expected and appreciated. Plugging a V1 into an empty fuse is not considered a modification in my estimation.

It's your car. Do what you want. When Porsche advises me that it's OK the add in a radar detector and camera I'll do it. Also I apologize, I didn't catch where you got your electrical engineering degree?

Now now.. lets all put our toys back in the pram and play nice.
The bickering and snide remarks are not going to resolve the OP's situation.
Lets just wait and see. These things take time (trust me I know).

Making rhetorical comments about me or my background is needless. Are you serious with that?

My post was not directed at you personally, rather objecting to the idea that Nick or his dealer caused a well car to become extremely unwell due to a radar detector install. It seems that only a non car person could think that.
