I'm suprised at how minimal they are. Not that I was expecting a major facelift in the first place. I'd love to see well over a decade (or two) off the current platform with minor, largely insignificant changes, and I think it could happen.

"The Porsche 911, type 991, already the middle of approaches from the first presented versions of its life cycle. Correspondingly, a small update for the athlete. A Erlkönig (royal?) armada consisting of Turbo S Cabrio and Coupé was now caught in winter testing in the far north.

The caught prototypes suggest modifications indicated for the daytime running lights in the front apron and air intakes modified at the front. This could have active flap elements to thus affect the air resistance can.

At the rear, new graphics for the rear lights and new air vents in the rear apron can be identified behind the rear wheels. Until now, these were not found on the normal Carrera models and likely indicate the expected GTS coupe and convertible variants. The GTS also an uprated 3.8-liter boxer is to be expected, which is expected to generate around 430 hp.

Premiere will 911 may celebrate the facelift versions of the Porsche already in Geneva 2015."

Just to be clear - They are talking here about what we would call a MY2016 .2 991 facelift with an intro at Geneva Auto Show in March of 2015. So, as expected.

Peter, I think it looks like the moderators are moving the thread you posted in the 991 gt3 forum and merging it with this other one you started here today.

In any case, my answer to your question above is 'No, I don't think it will be introduced earlier than in March 2015 as a MY2016. And yes all of this testing in advance is quite normal'. The testing is doubly necessary if the reports/rumors of engine power increases for both base & S, a 991 gts model & experiments with rear axle steering, sport PDK are true!

My speculation on facelift is as follows: I expect at least the 991 S models to have as possible options the 'Rear Axle Steering' from the gt3 & Turbo and the improved 'Sport PDK' from the gt3!!! Cosmetically, I expect to see a larger rear lights (with some distant similarity to 918's rear LED's) and different, more 'visible' front LED driving & day lights. We might also finally get a 918 style adjustable 'sport bucket' (both driver & passenger side) as an option on select 991 & 981 'sport' models. And the new style 'Sport Design' steering wheel, first seen on the 918 and Macan, will be introduced, along with a new chrome ring around the center airbag cover w. enamel Porsche badge for all steering wheels. Re: Exterior paints I expect 'Lime Gold', 'Amaranth Red' and perhaps 'Mahogany' (all three metallics) to be substituted for new colors. Re: interior selections, I expect to see more alcantara options (door panels, lower dash, etc) on selected 'sport' models (e.g. gts). All in all, it might be one of the most meaningful mid-model facelifts we have seen in Porsche 911 history...and I am looking forward to it!

Appears from the pics that any changes at all won't be noticeable to 99% of even the Porsche population in which case is fine with me. Save for my Carrera Classics maybe just a wheel upgrade in a couple of years and I'll be happy with that. Heck, I still like the 997 lobster claws myself. Maybe I'm still old school.

Too bad they merged the posts because not many GT3 enthusiasts are looking at the 991 part of the forum perhaps and the look will carry over to the GT3's as well.
If you are correct in musing that the regular 991's (GTS?) will get (optional?) RWS, more power and also the sport buckets as options, its a really small difference between a C2S /GTS and a GT3, except for rear seat delete and the "dry sump".

Peter: It was apparently a head fake. The moderators first tagged your gt3 thread as if to move it and then they left it there & instead moved out 'Nick's' stop sale update which was, at the time, sitting right above yours! So clearly a case of 'mistaken identity' and your other thread is safe at the gt3 site for the time being. And rightfully so! You are correct that the .2 facelift will carry over to both the 991 gt3 and the RS....if we ever get the European Cycle 6 emissions 'issue' solved on these two models! I keep waiting for Macca or someone else with good factory contacts to follow up on the original 'scary rumor' that there might NOT be a .2 gt3 or RS due to stringent Cycle 6's after the dreaded Sept 1st, 2014 deadline! But instead we hear just 'crickets'!

I do not even know what a 991 really looks like to even compare it to a face lifted 991…..

On a side note, for the window trim, do you folks rather the chrome trim or black trim around the windows?
