96redLT4 - I highly suggest you keep it if you can. You will miss your GTS. I daily my Touring but whenever I get back in my GTS, I remember how much I love it and it amazes me how different the driving experience is between the two.

Surprised to hear you daily drive the touring on the wild streets of west LA.I recall it being a really special PTS car. Do you have the sport buckets and find them good for daily use? I am planning on keeping my car at least until I can experience the new one. Thanks for your thoughts.

96redLT4 - I drive at odd hours to avoid much - if not all! - of the traffic madness in my PTS, light ivory, Touring. I do have the sport buckets and I find them more comfortable than the 4-ways in my GTS. I can go hours in the buckets with no back or butt pain and only about an hour in the 4-ways before I start shifting about in my seat due to discomfort. I added memory foam for lumbar support behind the Houdstooth inserts in my buckets which made a world of difference. Ingress and egress from the buckets has been a non-issue for me, once I got used to the process. Glad to hear you will be keeping both for at least some period of time, so you can compare the two. Congrats in advance on your awesome new car!

The 991.1 "slower" linear power delivery and stirring sound remind me of the original cars, particularly the early S cars (69-73), which were very high strung, low on torque, with peak power way up there in the RPM range. To me, a 30 year 911 owner and student of the model and brand, the 991.1 makes sense and feels in keeping with the car's origins. Things just start happening higher in the RPM band, with a sense of occasion, and it affects how you have to drive them. It's not for everyone, and other 991.1 owners may completely disagree with me. Cool.

The 991.2 has much more lower end torque and oomph off the line. It definitely is a better car for stop and go light to light around town bopping. But for me, I couldn't get over the smaller displacement/turbo stuff when searching for a 991. My buddy's .2 X51 languished in his garage, even with aftermarket exhaust to try to bring its soul back. He sold it after 6 months.

One of the great things about modern Porsches is the choices we have. With all the options and colors available, plus the mods people undertake, it's essentially true that no two 911s are alike.

Enjoy what you have!

I could not agree more! I once owned a ‘67 911S with a Bursch exhaust. Driving it into those high RPMs and hearing it sing was an amazing experience. Then 20years ago family came and life happened and I let the car go. Last year I finally pulled the trigger on .1 C2S with PSE and I’m immediately transported back to that aural experience. The delivery of sound is uncanny between the two (at least in my memory)! Of course there are the 50years of mechanical improvements and refinements - that make the .1 a 21st century delight and yet still maintains its roots.

Owned a ‘14 .1 and now a ‘19T. The sound between the two as you near redline is very similar. Different experiences for sure but I much prefer the .2 for daily driving. For the rare mountain drives the .1 was more enjoyable.

As a sales guy with RR Racing, I have this conversation a few times a week now. You would be surprised at how many people want to upgrade their .1 cars for the next best thing but are reluctant to dismiss the N/A 9A1 engine from their life. The entire reason we created the bolt-on S/C kit for these cars is that we know the potential of the car with a little more power. When using the centrifugal style S/C you retain the exact same power curve it just gets a boost in overall numbers. With this boost, the car becomes much more capable in the straights and the car is much more rounded out as a package with performance vs: handling.

Below is a video to show how linear the S/C 991.1 will be. These are a few quick pulls for demonstration purposes.

The real joy of driving a 991.1 comes home in the mountain west. I have never been so entertained by an automobile as the twisties in the Rocky Mountain West. Sport Chrono Plus will send you over the edge(not really), but figuratively!
