If you ordered from the site, then you're getting a v1 (with the exception of Jason G.). Everyone else is getting a v2 pre-production unit.

I stumbled upon this thread because I have been searching for a 3D printed solution for wireless charging for my 718s. It appears the 718 / 991s have the same dimensions for the smoker ashtray (https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X2ASHTRAY.html). @brockbr is it too late to see if I can help beta test v2 and see if it works in 718s?

 

Are there any options for a non-ashtray model?

 

I am making one now. I had to locate a non-ashtray car before I could start. Coming soon.

Would Apple CarPlay still work with MagSafe and a separate cable going in from the armrest?

Does your adapter have a channel to feed in the cable from the arm rest to enable wired CarPlay?

 

Doesn't this cradle plug directly into the cig opening in the center console?

 

No - This version does not. I haven't found a clean way (not that I'm not trying) to get the cable up and rearward to the console.

This cover allows you to plug into power for charging.

On a personal note, I use a CarPlay dongle to make my car wireless carplay. This one specifically:

 

I use the same one, works well.

 

i was hoping it would work but it doesn’t. That said I do use wireless CarPlay but was hoping I’d use the tethered CarPlay and other tethered car options.
anyway, wireless CarPlay and this setup is great.

i think a “911” should be added to all future models. Y’a?
