Glad to hear you're liking your new set up!

thanks for pointing this out, in my haste it was poorly worded and I've edited it to make it as clear as my previous post (see below)

If the iSudar wasn't avaliable I'd be happy with either joyeauto or NM with the NM winning on fit and finish but losing on cost. with all three as an option i stand by my opinion that most people should go isudar

Wait, the iSudar has an external box?

That's what I was thinking but your sentence doesn't reflect that.

So all these workarounds, NM, Joy, Isudar are basically the same. They act as "mirrors" to you phone, essentially.

You cannot download an app onto the PCM or or the new "boards", but if you download it onto your phone, you will see it on the new "system".

Are these more or less correct statements?

Correct. Any apps you see in Carplay or AA have been installed on your phone, the PCM is just pulling up a mirror so to speak, of your phones app.

+1

This is how any car w/ carplay works, for example PCM 4.0 in the 991.2 and PCM 5.0 in the 992 both use your phone for the heavy lifting and the screen is just a display and touch interface.

Should you have to unhook the negative battery terminal when unhooking the PCM and doing work on it?

What size standoffs does it use (saves $10 on a smaller kit lol.)

So I installed this yesterday and I have no sound, radio or carplay I did the move the optical cable to the fitting at the pcm, but it has to be a problem with the optical cable right? Since I have no radio. I did select aux but it just selects it and then I go back to select it its on something else.

I also removed the xm card I am surprised you got it to fit! but Ill get standoffs and throw it back in I guess.

any tips on getting the head unit back it mine is a little less than an inch from going all the way in...

i have the Maxspeed B/U camera that has the additional quad lock connector and emulator box that makes it a challenge to get the PCM slid back all the way. I took an old thin 12” screwdriver and put a slight curve in the shank and put several layers of electrical tape on the tip. I insert the tool in the area at the removed trim on the passenger side by the 12V socket and/or at the PCM opening to reposition the wires as I push the PCM back in. It’s a tight fit with the additional box and wires and repositioning the wires with the tool makes it possible.

Thanks guys I got it, I reinstalled the xm card, used a couple of nuts with the supplied standoffs to get it to fit.
The no sound problem was the bulk connector not being pushed all the way in.

how do you go back to carplay after you have done something else on the pcm? I have to plug it in to get it to open back up.

Has anyone tried ISUDAR on earlier PCM's 3.1 - software version 3.43?

I just realized that Isudar only allows tethered phone for Android. Wireless for Carplay only. I don't use Apple, so tethering my phone to see AA on the PCM defeats the purpose IMO.
