I sent them a message about a month ago and they responded they would reach out to me when they were ready to start making them - no word yet.

Same. I'm hoping they'll also be able to black out the interiors of my lights while they have them cracked open.

As an update on this thread, I did receive my supply of new covers from my preferred vendor last week and have disassembled my trial 991 headlight to verify that the repair process will be the same as I have used to replace the covers for the 981 Cayman / Boxster series headlights.

I also did purchase some specialty paints and painting equipment to modify the interior trim parts as some clients have asked for the option to dechrome the interior parts at the time of cover replacement.
So yes, I can currently replace the headlight covers on the 991 but waiting to verify I can achieve interior trim refinishing to a level of OEM quality before officially offering a "black out" option.

I plan to add the option to purchase replacement cover service on the website this week and will update the thread once its live. (I have full time work during the day and my free time is somewhat limited during the holiday season)

I have completed many sets of 981 headlights for Rennlist members but no 991 lights as of yet so hopefully one of the first here can soon provide feedback to others and also review of the quality of the work for the forum.

Headlight cover replacement service for the 991 series Carreras is now active on the site.

OEM dark metallic grey trim in stock, silver trim pending arrival in the next few weeks.

No interior black out option available yet as trial painting techniques are still ongoing.

Is this dark grey the same as on the PDLS (bi-xenon, non-LED) lights on the 991.1? Or, more importantly, these aren't the same as the "black" trim on the optional black headlights?

The covers I currently have in stock are the ones that came with the "Black Headlight Housings" option.
They are very dark grey, not black.

VS the "Standard" silver housing which I purchased from my vendor but I am still waiting on their arrival.

Looking great! I am so excited to get these repaired. Eagerly awaiting your painting experiment to see how that turns out.

Update: I am having to go to a vendor membership since I am now offering services to members. So hopefully my posts remain up until that is finalized.

Finished my trial run and found that full disassembly of the lights is required for a factory like result.

Very time intensive and with trials and errors but happy to say that I am absolutely pleased with the final results.

I will be able to offer a "Black Out" interior option for clients also with new covers replacing the silver trim color with dark grey metallic.

991 lights look will be a GT3 style - matte finish on the original chrome parts
981 Cayman / Boxster look will be GT4 style - gloss black covering the original chrome parts.

Empty housing next to original :

Fully disassembled housing:

Detailed painting of chrome parts:

Newly refinished components:

Assembled with the new de-chromed result:

New dark metallic trim cover installed:

Ready for installation:

Seriously, though - incredible work!!

I'm going to take full advantage of my baggage allowance on my trip to the US next month and ship my lights from Vegas instead of Canada, lol.
