GTS premium worth over S? Will the GTS hold value better?

Depends on what you want. For me it was GTS or bust. I wanted the bigger turbos, the wide body, the GTS interior alcantara, the centerlocks, the sport bumpers and PSE. All of these things lead to a look and feel that I felt was tangible over the other non-GT models...especially the interior as it looks very similar to the interiors in the 991 GT cars I have owned/currently own over the years. It offers some follies that lean it towards the GT side of things which I really like in my semi-daily driver.

Short answer, yes the package is worth a premium and is a sweet middle spot in the line up with livability, exclusivity, performance and character.
I also was in the market for a 991.2 S when my local dealer received a trade in on a GTS. I was down there the same day they took it in and picked it up 2 days later for a few % more than the cost of the S (early pandemic). I originally thought the GTS was going to be a stretch but completely satisfied with the package; though a small part of me is considering selling the car with prices where they are at the moment

Counterpoint. I bought a 2019 C2S MT with 1K miles. Has full leather, PSE, Premium Plus, glass roof, “S” wheels, MFSW and I love it.
I could have bought plenty of older, higher mileage, PDK GTSs for the same money or less. If Alcantara and less lug nuts, or NA are your thing then go for it.
This was the trim/spec/car that spoke to me, I wanted, and I couldn’t be any happier. Resale value is the last thing on my mind. I don’t plan to sell it.
Find your 911. You’ll know it. Don’t think, wait or negotiate too much, because it will sell. Buy it and drive it. You may never find another 911 exactly like it, and I can assure you - there’s nothing like a 911.

There is more to a GTS than the cosmetic 5 options that could be added to an S. Suspension, sound damping, tire width, suspension is all unique. PSE a exhaust sound is different as well.

Also, the tire size may be different for the 991.1, but it's the same 245/35 305/30 for the 991.2 (at least for the S cars with 20s).
Seriously not trying to be an ***, but I can't seem to find documented evidence of most of these differences. I believe Porsche has claimed the sound damping and exhaust have been tweaked, but even that is difficult to track down. I really don't think anything is "exclusive" for the suspension, but I could be wrong- I'd just like to know exactly what's different.

Not much more to add than to say don't buy a car for the next guy- buy it for you. I don't know you but I'm sure you are worth it and especially if you daily drive it like I do, the car should be everything that speaks to you.
If that means it's a bit more expensive (GTS) then so be it.

GTS will always hold its value better because it starts at a higher point on the options tree, you know the car is equipped with certain things standard versus a base or S. A high optioned S gets bucketed with all the other S cars so ultimately all of those expensive options start be worth far less unless its the right buyer and they know the option sheet stretches multiple pages.

Another way to look at is, high options vs higher trim level. Generally speaking, high trim level holds value more than lower trim with lots of options.
911 could be different and it's general used car things so please don't hate or kill me.
It's simply another way to look at and not enough reason to make a forum member cry (me, I'm sensitive so don't do it please.)
Regarding the sound deadening, I believe GTS has less so sound feels louder. I think I read it somewhere.

You mentioned suspension twice, so I'm assuming you have some sort of evidence to fall back on what's different?

I said tire width. You stated diameter and aspect ratio. C4GTS with CL has F 9 R 12.
If you speak to someone like dealer shop foreman they can further elaborate on how GTS differs besides cosmetics.
Since some folks don't care for Alcantara, full interior leather option was chosen by many. Makes finding the used GTS you want even more difficult.
S and GTS are different. Only buyer can decide. Good luck to OP.

Ok, maybe there's no other way to come off here but a shop foreman? In the broad expanse of the global Internet, your recommendation is to try my luck at a dealer shop foreman, like he holds the secrets to the universe? Come on, just tell me you're too lazy to look for it, or you don't have any actual evidence. Either is a perfectly acceptable response.
S and GTS are different, but the suspension is the same until proven otherwise.

Never liked alcantara, have it on the steering wheel of the M3 but can't remove it as it will screw up the character of the car, ugh.
