We can start reading here (if you can stay awake):https://www.insurance.ca.gov/01-cons...lerobligorvscs
I’ve reached out to my out of state issuer for an opinion and will pass along his response.

It's mainly a law for the "SELLER" of the plans, rather than the customer - basically, dealers outside of CA can't sell to CA residents

If I'm picking up a relatively low mileage (18k miles) 2014 C4S (manual, spec'd like a GTS), would I be stupid not to add one of these Platinum warranties? I plan to keep it stock and it's probably only going to do at most 4-6k miles a year since I'm daily + winter driving my S4.

Rudy, as much as we enjoy pointing out that someone is indeed stupid, buying insurance is a personal call. There is no absolute right/wrong answer. Get yourself a quote which will help you make the cost/risk analysis.

BTW, my daily driver is also an S4. I have a Fidelity warranty on my Porsche, but not on my Audi. Now who's stupid?

I have a 2017 C2 with 29.7K miles and a CPO that runs through 11/2022. Michael Bernardo's app returned a price of ~$4700 for Platinum with 60mo/60K/$250 deductible just now. I drive less than 5k miles/year.

Would you wise folk advise having overlapping coverage by buying now or waiting till the vehicle has around 40k miles before getting a (presumably higher) quote that would start at the end of my CPO term? I probably will not keep the vehicle for more than three years past the end of the CPO, i.e., 11/25 or thereabouts. Appreciate your thoughts.

Glad to help with our online portal - it's a live quoting tool that presents pricing based on VIN/Mileage/Year/etc. - while you can always purchase coverage at any time, it will certainly jump in price as time/mileage accrue. With 40k miles, expect a similar price point for a 4 year if not a 3 year term, as the 60 month option will no longer be available. It's a tough tool to predict, but from much experience, the longer you wait, the less options you have, and at might higher prices. Use the promocode RENNLIST for the extra $200.00 discount too - glad to help!

Default Have him run cost on same vehicle with 40k

My guess is that will provide a very clear answer. For that price i might shop for the 10/100.

Spoke with Mike today in person and he gave me a great quote. Working on closing a deal this week on a 991 and he’ll be my first call once the deal goes through!

Just purchased 5yr, $250 deductible, 60K mi, Plat warranty for $3,643 from Michael Bernardo for my 2017 Targa 4S with 24.5K miles. Still have 1 yr on CPO but pricing would go up a lot over 25K. So what I got was a 4 yr deal beyond warranty @ $911 per year which in my mind is a reasonable insurance rate.

Fidelity Platinum Exclusion:

ANY CLAIM IF YOUR VEHICLE IS USED FOR: COMPETITIVE DRIVING OR RACING

so an Autocross invalidates the coverage? If they ask, one must legally reply.

Also just purchased 6/60 from Michael Bernardo. He called, we discussed things and got it done quick which I appreciated. I was glad to hear that I will not have a gap in coverage. My factory warranty runs out in 8 days and most extended coverages have a 30 day wait before you can file a claim. No gap, great news. Car came out of 4 year maintenance today. Deck lid struts getting replaced. 22k and this is my first repair. I hope I'm wasting money on this warranty. Great car
