Does the fidelity platinum cover the convertible top or lost key?

Is this more a bigger ticket warranty? Engine, pdk, electronics (radio, navi, etc)?

It sounds like you'll be at about 50k miles at the end of your CPO so they are quoting you $9500 to cover the vehicle for 10,000 more miles? If so, that sure doesn't even remotely seem worth it to me.

beefchopper, the 60 months and/or 60k miles starts from time of purchase. Unlike some warranties, namely my GMPP, which start from the in service date, the Fidelity starts from date of purchase.

I posted a while back on this thread the warranty exception form for the platinum coverage. Anything convertible top related is excluded. The Electronics (PCM) is covered, or at least that's what my SA told me, since the PCM is integrated with the car and not just a standalone radio. That being said, a different SA at another dealer was not able to get my sport chrono clock covered under the warranty even though it's an integrated option.

Thanks for setting me straight on that. Now it makes sense to me.

I just bought a Fidelity Platinum 6/60 warranty from Mike at Steingold. Could not have been easier and excellent price. Peace of mind for my PDK equipped 981.

So let's say you buy 3yrs, since I am not sure if I will keep the car, if I do decide to keep the car longer can you buy more years? Hope that makes sense.

↑ I'd imagine that will depend on the mileage at the time you are looking to purchase the second term. Know this, the cost to purchase that second term will be many times what the 6 year plan would cost when you purchased just the 3 year term.

That is what I was assuming too. Thanks

Just get the longer one now - you will always get a pro-rata refund if you sell with policy left over.

That is really only true if he doesn't have any claims, or at least not one over a threshold, probably a very low one at that. That and the refund will be about half of what the cost
difference was between the 3 year and the 6 year. It's still something vs nothing....

@SteingoldVolvoCars - can you please shed some light to the pro-rata refund issue. I did not think that claims had anything to do with the refund. My understanding is that the pro-rata refund is purely based on the remaining unused portion of the premium.

Thank you in advance!

I am happy to be wrong.

My GMPP contract has language that in the event of a claim, it reduces any refund pro-rata based on claim totals right up to a complete forfeiture of any refund regardless of length or mileage remaining.

It's nice Fidelity has no such language. Makes me even more confident in my purchase, also from Michael
