I’m assuming going with an aftermarket unit would eliminate this issue completely right?

Is it possible that XM is still pushing out the corrupted signal? If they screwed my PCM to the point of needing a $5k replacement we would be meeting in small claims court.

Hi All,

I had this happen in my 2013 991.1 Carrera S Cabriolet ironically the day that I took delivery of it from the dealer on 24MAY2020. Unknown to me they had provided a free 3 month Sirius XM trial so when the signal pushed to the PCM, the reboot cycle began. The car has PCM 3.1 and software version 3.43, the reason I mention this is I am unsure if it is affecting a specific software level for the PCM 3.1 units. Does anyone know what the most current version of software that can be installed in a 991.1 and other than having to take it back to the dealer is there an ISO where I can do that install? Note that I did the reset and handover procedure and it seems to be working for now, but I want to at least eliminate any other software issues due to mine being out of date.

Thanks!

You may still be able to get the software update CD with 4.76 from the dealer. About $20 and you can do it yourself. Does not require PIWIS. My dealer installed it without charge. There is a video floating around nohow you do the update, but essentially you insert the CD and follow the on-screen instructions.

Default Re-added bluetooth phone after a week and reboots reappear?

Same profile with 2016 991S. Original reset on 5/22 lasted for at least a week with no problems, but then when I got around to re-adding my android phone as a bluetooth device the problem booting started happening again. I repeated the vehicle handover fix again several days ago, have not re-added the phone and no further reboots so far.

I used the 2016 Macan to run errands yesterday, and the PCM system operated without any issues. This is such a joke - feeling relief because the PCM system isn't cycling off an on - and BS! I'll keep posting on this issue to provide updates as both my 2016 Macan and 911 are affected by the PCM cycling off/on.

My car's XM reboot problem began May 20. The dealer performed the handover reset on May 21, and all was well for the next 6 days, although I did not use the car every day. Then the problem returned.

I did the second handover reset myself on May 29. The PCM has been through about 7 total hours of service and 6 or more vehicle on/off cycles since then, and everything is still working correctly. I don't want to jinx it, but I think my PCM is back to normal now.

No issues since my last message, approximately June 1.

Since then I've upgraded my pcm to 4.78 and sent a new activation via Sirius website.

This weekends surgery will be a hard drive clone and ssd transplant w screen protector and rennline mount install.

Hi All, Talked to Porsche North America on Thursday this week and was told " the vehicle needs to go to the dealer for diagnostics before we can determine anything" well that's different from what I've been told for the last month!
So my wife will be following me to Winnipeg in July to go to the dealer for a reprogram of the PCM ( taking some equipment west for a friend), hopefully this will take care of the reboot problem.

I'm very happy to report (at least for now) after 8 L O N G months of combined winter hibernation & CV-19 shut-down-stay-at-home-orders, I finally got the car out yesterday and I experience ZERO PCM rebooting issues. I hope I'm in the clear. Mainly because I don't want to do the hard reset and lose all my stored locations in navigation. Fingers and toes remain crossed.

I think you may be in the clear. I had mine out of commission during the whole update thing as well, and I've never had my PCM do anything. I think if the car wasn't able to get the signal, it never attempted the update.
Seems to me what was happening is the update was corrupt so it would start to load and couldn't complete, so it just kept trying over and over again to load the files.
