Heat Shield Recall
#31
Hi,
I’ve also received two recall letters from ‘Porsche Korea’ few weeks ago.
WLA4 - Retrofit heat shield
WLC8 - Replacing tank leakage diagnostic module
The letter states that heat shield recall is applied to:
911 Carrera/ 911 Turbo (991 models)
Manufactured date
911 Carrera: From 17 MAY 2011 to 23 DEC 2016
911 Turbo: From 23 JAN 2013 to 13 JAN 2020
For tank leakage module:
911 Carrera (991) only
Manufactured from 20 OCT 2011 to 29 MAY 2015.
I do not know if “911 Turbo” includes 991.2 but thats what the letter says.

Hmm... Well looks like mine misses the tank leakage module, but I'll still needs the heat shield.
What's the difference between a safety recall and a workshop recall? Better question.. What is a workshop recall? Never heard that before. Not as important as a safety one?

When I picked up my car I was informed by my service guy that they also ended up doing the "replace the unit that measures the fuel tank vapor capture". He said they would fail and it would lead to a check engine light. Didn't charge me anything so I was fine with them doing it without consent.

I haven't received any notification from dealer or PCNA previously but I sent a message on the Porsche web site and got this response:
Thank you for contacting Porsche Cars North America regarding your 2013 911 Carrera.
Below, please find the open workshop campaigns on your vehicle (VIN WP0AA2A92DS********):
WLA4 - Retrofit heat shield
WLC8 - Replacing tank leakage diagnostic module
These may not show up on the recall lookup tool because they are not safety recalls, they are workshop campaigns. We must encourage you to contact the Service Department of an authorized Porsche dealership to schedule an appointment to perform these updates.
Again, we appreciate you reaching out and providing us the opportunity to respond. Have a wonderful rest of your day!
Best regards,

I have heard nothing from my dealer, so I tried an email to the address in your post. Three days, no reply, although with COVID-19 work schedules, not too surprising.

I spoke with my service advisor yesterday and he ran my vin (2013 C2S) and he told me there was an open campaign for both the heat shield and the tank leakage diagnostic module. That is all the details I have on it right now. I have not received notification from Porsche NA yet. My car is just coming out of winter storage, so both items will be addressed when the car comes in for it's annual spring service appointment.

Both workshop campaigns apply to my 2015 GTS. I will inquire with my dealership when I schedule my next service visit.

I have a '15 GTS as well. Thanks for the legwork. Will need to get this done in a month or so when I get my yearly car inspection.

Does anyone else find this process ridiculous?
We are scavenging the web for information about our cars being on a recall / service campaign list.
And depending on who you call, you get a different response.

Recently I scheduled an appointment at my dealer to have the summer wheels/tires mounted on my 2016 GTS. A few days before the appointment the dealer informed me of the heat shield campaign and added it to the work list. So far, I have had no contact of any kind from PCNA, Inc., about the campaign.
