Default Time to bring out the battery tender.

After not driving the car for two weeks for obvious reasons I think it’s time to hook up the battery tender. I am using the CTEK 7002. Hope everyone stays safe!

I don't understand why some of you are putting the car away? Go for drives, the roads are clear. Go to an uncrowded place and go for a walk. Drive the car, you can't get better isolation. I've been going for hour long drives here and there. Does wonders for the spirit.

I hook mine up within 3 days of parking it. 3 days is my limit, but I hook it up right away if I expect it to sit 3 days or more. Sitting kills batteries in these modern cars with constant battery drain.

Same here, CTEK Multi US 3300. I was using the center console 12V outlet but this week I'm going to move to a direct connection + / - on the battery to make the connection easier.

Glad I bought a charger.

3 days seems a bit extreme. I hook up when the console shows a message something like - In Battery Saving Mode.

I have been driving my car more over the past few weeks. 911 therapy! Gets me out of the house awhile.

I feel like my battery gets low quickly and the battery is only a few months old. If I don’t drive the car for a couple days the voltmeter is at 15-15.2 all the time. No aftermarket electronics or anything.

For those that feel the battery drains quickly in storage, do you lock the car when it’s parked in the garage?

I never lock my car and I have a healthy battery after 5 years. The best way to keep your battery in form is to drive the car at least once a week. 2 weeks is my limit if I don’t move the car.

I remember this topic from years ago and someone saying that leaving the car unlocked is in fact a massive drain on the battery because it puts all the electronics in "here we go" mode and ready to activate when you jump in to your unlocked car, as opposed to being asleep in a locked car.

I charge my battery when I take the long way to the grocery store. No need to store your car.

15V sounds very high. Are you seeing that with the car off or while running?

One should lock the car to lessen the current draw off the battery.
