I tested this on a 2019 this week - both locked and unlocked, with CTEK plugged into the passenger side footwell socket. CTEK set to snowflake mode.

I was able to achieve a full charge as indicated by the CTEK with the car both locked and unlocked. I ran the test on different days, so battery started on a less than full charge (as indicated by CTEK) for both tests.

That's not a megapixel issue, problem is likely he didn't use close focus or he sneezed.

Actual picture of me setting up for a photoshoot:

(In actual fact the light was so dim in the garage, that particular shot of my "voltmeter" was almost completely dark. )

Has anyone had anything similar with a CTEK Multi US 3300?

I emailed Customer Service for an RMA number and an evaluation. The manual says it has a five year warranty, so I guess I will put that to the test (bought it April last year.)
Same thing happens to me with my CTEK Multi US 3300. I just keep pushing the “Mode” button and it will eventually move to “snowflake”. Mine is past it’s warranty period, so I just put up with it until I decide to buy a new tender.

Thanks. I’ve contacted CTEK US but haven’t had a reply yet. But they might be busy with COVID. I’ll try and give them a call next week, but it’s not like an emergency.

I like the connections they use though. Are there any other charger brands out there that use that form factor connector in case I have to replace the CTEK with something else?

I bought a used charger the other day and had the same problem. Since mine was out of warranty I just googled it. Apparently it is a common problem, and in many cases, mine included the contact on the switch somehow gets dirty (no idea when it is pretty well sealed). Anyway, there are lot of youtube videos of the fix. This is the video I used.

I didn't have electrical contact cleaner, but did have MAF sensor cleaner, worked just the same. It is about a 20 min fix, no real tools required. Mine works like new now. FYI, there is quite a bit of wire you can pull out of the charger to get the board out of the case. That was the hardest part, getting the board out. That and the stupid red plug covering one of the screws heads

Finding it hard to understand why people are still buying the CTEK charger. I don't think I have ever read or seen so many posts about this charger going bad or having issues with it. I've had my Battery Tender for about 8 years and never had one issue with it.

I dunno; in my case it was just one of many chargers listed on Amazon with fairly positive reviews. Plus it had the same look at the Porsche charger for what $200? I got mine for $57 shipped.

Would I buy one again? Probably not. The accessory connections they sell are pretty cool though. I have a 10' or more M/F extension length, which is useful, and a 12V AC outlet plug in.

I still haven't heard from CTEK customer service. Fortunately I'm able to drive the car for work (As a contractor on DoD programs I'm "essential") every week or so.

I have had my CTEK working perfectly for many years on my NEW 1974, 1987, 1989, 1995, 2013 and now my 2015 GTS. It has gone to sleep so I bought another CTEK for my GTS. It did not work on any port in my GTS locked or unlocked. I had examined all the correct fuses and all looked intact to me INTACT. I took it to the dealer's shop and he kindly pulled all the fuses. One was clearly bad. He replaced one of the three fuses. The passenger's and smoker's port still did not work. The only one that worked was the port in the glove compartment where I usually park my cell phone. PORSCHE JUST MUST START TO THINK ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT SHOULD WORK WELL. I hope this is not my last Porsche but I think it is.

So easy just straight to battery terminals.

Got tired of waiting for CTEK CS (two weeks) so I took my unit apart to clean the micro switch.

Pretty simple, 4 screws. Remove the surrounds on either end (pull gently). Lever out the circuit board to get to the micro switch. Hose it all out with contact cleaner. Reassemble. At least the dang thing works now.
