Guess it would not hurt to put grease in both the nut area and the edges?
The blind leading the blind! LOL.

I plan to do only what Mtony says about the nut area. I can now easily see the black rubber seal in that area with my LED flashlight, now that I know what to look for. I plan to do it with maybe a Q-tip.

I'll put this here.

If you are ordering supplies from Griot's, use the PCA Mambers code# "PCAGG" to get 15% off all your liquid items.

Thinking about an exhaust DIY project. I have a non-PSE Carrera S.... so either a Porsche PSE install or something else. Still trying to figure out what to do here, since I don't want the drone you get with most aftermarket stuff.

Also, thinking about a DSC controller "upgrade" and some radiator grills.

I’m going to fix a loose dash vent on the passenger side. All the metal clips broke off and most were lost. Need to rig some metal pieces and epoxy these on the inner part of the vent. Pics to follow. But in the meantime I have a valve cover gasket job going on my bmw.

We've got what you need, and we don't have the drone. You can ask anyone running our setup on our 991.1 Valved Exhaust System Development Thread, or I'd be happy to connect you with someone running it as well. We also have the DSC controller available and everyone i know running it loves it

Can you outline the process and products you used? I just received my new Agate Gray 2020 Carrera S and it has several scratches and swirls in it I would like to remove. Also I ceramic coated my last 911 (2016 TTS) and decided to try again. I like the Gtechnique products and am excited to try the new G4 products

I would hop on YouTube and check out some videos. There's a lot to the process if you want to do it correctly and it can go wrong in a hurry if you don't have the right tools (ie rotory vs dual action polisher) and technique.

If you are a complete novice, I highly recommend starting with The Junkman. He'll start you off nice and slow and is very beginner friendly. Once you've got a good base and some "playtime"uunder your belt, Larry Kosila with Ammo NYC is about the best you can get as far as knowledge and video resources. But, he gets very technical and can be discouraging when you don't have an understanding of what he's talking about and doing.

2nd on all that. I started with some youtube videos. Larry (AMMO) is a good resource. His videos with Kevin Brown are really informative. Larry is local to me and has worked on my cars. I decided to simplify things and use Griots compete compound for the majority of cutting, a griots random orbital, and a chemical guys medium cut pad. It's amazing how much can be removed from that simple setup. Post wash and clay of course.
If Porsche didn't make the softest paint imaginable and my car was not black that might have been all that it needed. However on this car, whatever I took out I added in haze and lighter intensity marks. So then I went in with Adam's polish and a less aggressive pad which further improved things, reducing haze and eliminating more marks. I did not want to seal, wax or coat until I observed how it looked in direct high noon sun. Good thing because today I had the car in light where it was apparent that there was still haze and swirl on the hood. Subtle but there. So now I'm trying to learn what I need to do to remedy this. And after I touch that up I will seal or wax it. I have not really gotten to the coatings part of the equation.
It's been a fun process of learning online and experimenting during the past weeks. Hopefully I'm not blasting through too much clear, but I have learned that every single pass is removing something. It's an interesting pursuit and culture. My aesthetic is moving in the direction of well maintaining and knowing the paint, while not protecting it or avoiding usage damage. I find that the cleanliness and time spent is making me more familiar with its blemishes and I like the idea of it having them and knowing them, while also having well kept paint.

Can I just say how lucky you are, Ceepe, to have actually had Larry work on your cars? I would have loved to just watch him work!

Yeah, Larry is cool. Here is a pic after he finished a correction on my 2015 GT3. At Speedsport tuning. We're also part of the same chapter of PCA, CVR. Good guy.
