Default What's Your Current 991 Covid-19 Project??

All my car hibernation projects are done. Weather is terrible. Can't drive anyways with the "Stay At Home Order" So I started this today:

6 down.

14 to go.

Hope my wheels don't fall off in the interim.

I, too, have spent some quarantime shining things up. I did a strip-wash, taking off all the product already on the paint. Full clay bar and paint correction, buffing some imperfections on the top that had been driving me crazy. Then, two full coats of Hydro Slick Ceramic Coating from Chemical Guys, letting each coat cure for 24 hours.
This is probably the cleanest and shiniest my car has been in its four years of life. Except now, it’s too pretty to drive.

If that paint holds up on the wheel bolts, I'd definitely do the same thing!
  • Replaced drive belt
  • Exhaust tips ceramic powder-coated black
  • Rear bumper paint correction, getting PPF'd this weekend or next week
  • Taillights/reflectors getting tinted
  • Matte black Porsche emblem going on in a few weeks (found a body shop with the template!)
  • DSC V3 installed

Nice work, Koala. These bolts are now 6 driving season old. The wheels have probably been off & back on over 18 times. I wouldn't mind having to redo this project every few years. Hand tools only for me.

Yeah, those have held up well considering their age and the seasonal wheel swaps. My ECS black wheel bolts would still look nearly perfect, but the dealer did a left/right tire rotation for me and their impact gun marked up the bolts. Amateurs!

All the on & off is not from seasonal wheel changes. I don't drive n the winter months. Mainly from cleaning and detailing projects & new tires (74,000 miles). I did recently read about an old Concours trick to put a plastic bag over the bolt head when torquing. I'll give that a try in a few days after they cure. Stay healthy. Let's bend the curve.

I installed some RGS radiator grills. I've ordered some titanium lug bolts, but they haven't shown up yet.

Shoot, sorry. For some reason I thought you winter drove your car - not sure why I was thinking that!

Please be cautious with titanium wheel bolts. I ran them on my S2000 years ago and they seized to the steel studs. It required a ridiculous amount of torque to remove them.

I want to start on a small list of mods, but now all the shops are closed. I'm not doing the work myself...

I applied Sound Skin in my doors to make audio sound better... changed my oil... have some Endless RF-650 en route for a brake fluid flush. Running out of projects.

Hey Lex - did you ever find out what lube to use for the top of the front struts?

Did you remove those inner door skins as well to place material on the inside of the outer door shell, or just the exposed plastic panels as you have photographed? I'm really tempted to do the same thing.

I'm about 10 hours into my first paint correction. Decided to use a black 911 for my first attempt. It's not perfect but it's a lot better than the swirled mess the dealer delivered. Also got the DSC in but that takes all of 5 mins. If I had a proper garage and a lift I'd do some exhaust stuff. Enjoy seeing you guys having fun in the garage.
