Get the RS5 Sportback. Great car. I should’ve waited a little longer for one, instead, I got a S5 Sportback. The S5 is quick enough. Same interior as the RS5, I just prefer the aggressive styling of the RS.
I had an M3 Sedan. In Blue. Very cool car. I actually went from a 996 Turbo X51 to the M3, then 1.5 years later I bought a 991 S. All were my daily drivers. I keep my GTR with 30k miles as my weekend car. My next purchase will be a 997TT or a Ferrari 360 or Ferrari 348 & have 2 weekend cars & get something like a Cadillac ATS-V Sedan for a daily. I love Porsche, I couldn’t see myself without one.
If you're looking for a family sedan with "bang for the buck", good reliability , and good performance in that order, the new Genesis /Kia sedans are worth looking at, especially the G70 and Kia Stinger (assuming you aren't hung up on the hood emblem). The Stinger is absolutely gorgeous in person and I'm seriously considering replacing my 5 series with the G70 or Kia when it goes kaput.
The time has come folks and I need to get something a bit more practical to haul the kiddos around in. I've gone back and forth on this a hundred times already and I think it's finally time for me to depart with my beloved Carrera T.
The question I'm struggling with is, what do I replace it with? I don't want to spend a lot because it's going to be a pedestrian car BUT I do want it to be a nice ride. I'm not a huge fan of the Cayenne as I think it's a bit over priced. I like the Macan but it's a bit too small. I have an X5 for the wifey, so it might be ok to take the smaller Macan. Yes, I *could* throw two car seats into the rear of the 911 and call it a day, but I'd honestly rather not. Aside from the Porsche family of pedestrian rides, what would you guys/gals opt for as a replacement?
Some other options that come to mind include an S4, SQ5, Grand Cherokee (love the brand but don't know how they drive recently), M3 (sedan, probably too small for two car seats), X3 ... thoughts or other options?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts ya'll might have.
P.S. - My 911 T is GT Silver w/ Red CT Interior package and 4500 well loved and cared for miles. Manual transmission of course

I traded my 911 for a VW GTI “rabbit” at the end of last year. A very practical and fun car with a 2 liter turbo and 6 speed manual gearbox. I put just over 300 “spirited” miles on it and traded it for a RAM 1500.
What the man said. Rented one last month in Germany. I loved it. A smooth and refined pussycat when you go around town, and a crazy beast if you flog it.
MB E63 wagon is very fast and will cost you as much as the 911. That would be my first pick. Sedan wise, the new 3-series with the turbo six for half the price.
The "plain" E400 wagon is a pretty fun ride, and scores high on practicality.

Your kids must be a bit older than mine. I'd love to haul them around in it, they just need to wait another year or so ... you guys are making me second guess myself again!!
I drove my sons and their friends around in the back of my 991.2 Targa until they got to about 5'4" or so (I'm 6'0" and had to put my seat forward a bit). Complaints started around 5'2, but until then they were happy as clams and they always picked the Targa over the Macan or the Golf R. The cool/fun factor outweighed the cramped quarters...

Sell the T and pick up a ~$65K 911 (lots of nice choices in that price range) and brand new, bone-stock-base 2.0 liter turbo VW Atlas for $28K. Yes, they are that cheap.
The VW/Audi 2.0 liter turbos are quite nice engines that can be nicely tweaked if you get the urge for more power. I personally would take one any day over the higher-trim-model normally aspirated 3.6L. And more space than the X5, essentially X7 size. The base doesn't come with AWD, but doubt that is an issue for about 90% of 'SUV" buyers.

...but they don't offer 4Motion with the 2.0T and I'm a turbo guy. Too bad they don't offer the VAG 3.0T as the up-rated engine instead of the 3.6L na.
But with whatever engine, it's roomy, euro, and cheap!
Or, sell the T and get higher mile 991s ($60k) and AWD Golf R manual ($25k).
An M5 1st for me, then a green Audi S5 sportback with a tune if only one.
You already have an X5, so why get another SUV, although I really enjoy driving my wife 35d X5 with the M-sport package, so maybe and M version of that.
I drove one of those on track at Thermal and was amazed at how fast you could go through corners in an SUV with active suspension & nannies.
