I would say the RS5 sportback, Giulia or Stelvio Quadrifoglio or grab one of the $8xx per month m3/4 CS.
I also have a 991.2T and it’s such a fun car. Like it more than my 991.2S and 718 CGTS. I think the Alfa would probably be closest but still won’t replace the T for you. I also think the reliability issues have been blown way out of proportion as anyone I know who has owned one in real life hasn’t had issues.

Big fan of the Golf...
I daily drove an M3 for 4 years with car seats. It is not too small at all. Large backseat, good trunk, 4 doors., took 5 passengers routinely.
Another option is a Golf R, the backseat is good sized, may need a roof-rack with cargo box, but both of these come in a manual transmission, making the practical car feel like an enthusiast car. Good luck!

I may upgrade it to an eGolf but I'm having trouble pulling the trigger as I really dig this 2010 Mark VI. It's also now scratched up enough (nothing major) from its tenure in the city that I don't winch (too much anyway) if he takes another ding. Just yesterday I parked the CT as far away as possible and some construction guy with a dirty old mini-van parks super close right the f#@k next to it. New cars + cities = arggghh...

My gf has an e-Golf and it’s a superb car. We paid $12k for a Certified 2016 with 10k miles on it, so basically like new. Previously she leased a Q5 at the typical $500/month. Now we have no payments on the Golf, no fuel costs (maybe $25/month in electricity), and it’s a great car with some nice gadgets like Apple Carplay. I’d also say up to about 30mph it’s quicker than my 911!

A few things. My particular car cut power with light steady throttle. Like when maintaining speed on the highway, in top gears. Power would cut out for 3-4 seconds and then come back on. Dealer had the car a couple times and said everything was normal.
Aside from that, I felt the 8 speed is maybe the worst ZF 8 speed implementation I've driven. I don't know how or why Audi murders third party gearbox implementation but they do. Very non linear, hunting for gears, skipping gears, shifting on its own when bumps are hit. Strange stuff. Hard to believe stuff.
The steering is meh, but that's to be expected. I do feel the suspension tuning is good. That's one good quality, and the carbon brakes are stout with the firmest pedal
I've experienced. Firmer than PCCB's.
Lastly, the engine while fast is pretty lifeless in feel. Low max RPM, feels a little like an on off switch from 2-5k it starts having bite at the top of the revs and then just as it gets good loses the bite and kicks to the next gear. Id take the BMW 3.0T's over this 2.9T any day.

F80 M3. You can get a 19 for 10-12k off. Huge room in back seat and highly highly tunable platform. Will kill an S5 or any Audi product for driving feel and emotion. A tuned S4/S5 wont touch an S55 stock. With a tune the M3 goes to over 500hp easily and weighs only 3550 lbs.

Alas, in a moment of not 'putting my money where my mouth is', and having lusted after an RS6 for 16 years (when I got my first Avant)... and now that the kids are out of the house... I'd rather have a 911 than a station wagon that beats my 911.
