I used Cquartz UK 3.0. I did it myself and I'm sure I didn't do it as good as a pro. So far I'm unimpressed.

One thing to keep in mind, the ceramic products sold retail, to the everyday Joe, are not the same products sold exclusively to the professional detailer community.

100%. The enthusiast kits are garbage. And, whether using the professional stuff or the watered-down crap we can buy off the shelf, you still have to prep the paint surface properly.

^ That's my understanding as well. 95% of this is how well you prep the paint before application.

I dunno.... I did my 911 myself using https://www.autogeek.net/sonax-cc36-...c-coating.html and it was phenomenal. Part of it I think though is I keep up with the maintenance with good ceramic based foam/soap/spray regularly. I went on a boys weekend to the mountains with some friends and we drove through the rain to get to the cabin.... my car was 100% better looking than the rest of the group. All were detailed at the start.

Kamikaze is another good one. As soon as I move and have a garage to work in, that will be going on.

That Sonax kit says that it lasts up to 1 year. Take a look at other kits. You can save a lot by doing it yourself.

I did quite a bit of research myself and went with Gyeon Durabead. This is their professional line and only offered by shops. The car had a paint correction, Xpel PPF and then the multi step Gyeon coating. This has a 5 year warranty that they put this in writing. Keeping the car clean is key. There are other topical goodies that can be applied like Gyeon Can Coat and Gyeon Wet Coat.

I had CQuartz applied when I first brought the car home in November 2015. In November 2019 (4 years later), I had Kisho (a Japanese ceramic coating) applied.

Both have been absolutely fantastic, and the paint still looks like showroom-new condition. My detailer could not believe his eyes when he saw the car 4 years later.

There are countless pages of comments and opinions here, but a correctly-applied and cured ceramic coating is a godsend to anyone who cares about paint quality IMO. The pros far outweigh the cons:

Pros
  • Exceptional paint protection from daily wear, dirt, dust, etc.
  • Great gloss and shine
  • Long-lasting oleophobic effect
  • Extremely easy to wash the car
Cons
  • Initial cost, though it is well worth it
  • To maintain the coating and longevity, you should wash the car at home with pH-neutral soaps that are very soft on the coating.
Also worth noting that I've only had a single coat of each ceramic coating applied by my detailer. There are people who layer multiple coats (and even combine ceramic coatings with wraps) for optimal protection.

I'm a big fan of ceramic coating. Did it over the PPF. We are presently in the worst of the green tree pollen season. I try to keep the garage doors closed as much as possible but the green stuff gets on the car in huge amounts regardless. Every couple of days I hit it with a hose and blow off with the leaf blower than blot with micro towels. Takes 15 minutes and the car looks like new My MB 450 GLS has nothing on it. The green stuff gets caked on. Even going through a car wash doesn't get it all off.

I am also a big fan of ceramic for black plastic trim. Properly applied it looks better than the traditional treatments and last 10 times longer.

[QUOTE = LexVan; 16522710] Une chose à garder à l'esprit, les produits en céramique vendus au détail, au quotidien Joe, ne sont pas les mêmes produits vendus exclusivement à la communauté des détaillants professionnels. [/ QUOTE]
Sorry but it's not true, I have a friend who poses it and it's identically the same as sold on Amazon, if the brand is identical.

I have driven seven thousand miles on my car with ceramic coating applied this past year. It deflects bugs and looks practically hand washed after a drive in the rain. I am sold, 100%. I am due for my re-apply this month. Original three year warr $ 1,200 with $250 re-application per year

For $2k get clear bra. If you cant see or feel it, my experience is its not worth it. I got my cars coated as a package but I wouldn’t have gotten it with just coating

Get PPF, and than Ceramic on top of the PPF.

Have that setup on 3 vehicles and would do it again for any other vehicle I buy.

Any comments on Gyeon Rim vs Kamikaze Stance wheel coatings? Need to pull my wheels to flush brake fluid, figure it’s a good time to also coat the wheels and calipers. Seems DIY’able

From Esoteric Detailing it’s $80 for the Gyeon and $120 for the Kamikaze kit

The entire compounding, polishing, sealing, coating, hyper detailing product proliferation world is a racket. Naked paint for ever. One's production car is worth little. Paint corrected and condom wrapped or not. For enjoyments sake is another thing.

Gyeon Mohs is supposed to be a high temp and many folks are using that on the rims and calipers as well.

I think the issue with kamikaze for many folks is that they are sold only by Esoteric. Not many independent reviews for this line. I guess the same can be said about Polish Angel. Maybe also Herrenfart product line. In one of his last videos Todd said that he was going to use Gyeon on his next car.
