Honestly I thought Porsche did a poor job with the boxster/cayman Ts…it felt like Porsche wasn’t even trying after the low take rate of the 991.2 911T which they ended up putting the magic sauce in.

maybe they should have marketed it better. But on second thought it worked out for those of us who got one …. 😎

I think if you look at my post above (https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1060...l#post17955939) - it's pretty clear where the Carrera T is intended to fit in. And it seems to me like it is inevitable that there will be a 992T with the base 3.0T engine, a manual, and sport-tex interior (and maybe fabric door pulls and lightweight glass). This will be the 992 flavor below the GT cars targeted at the "purist".

It's a little lazy IMHO to make a Macan targeted at "purists" ... Cayman/Boxster, sure ... but Macan ? I think maybe it should have been a Macan Platinum Edition, or maybe a Macan Black Edition. Is there a Macan GT/RS on the horizon? I doubt it. I also do agree that it somewhat dilutes the "T" brand.

C'est la Vie. I still love my Carrera T, no matter what else they build. I guess we can always say we have the 1st! :-p

cheers!

“This is my T. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My T is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

Without me, my T is useless. Without my T I am useless. I must drive my T true. I must drive straighter than my competition who is trying to beat me. I must beat him before he beats me. I will …

My T and I know that what counts in racing is not the laps we finish. the noise of our engine , nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the wins that count. We will win…

My T is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its engine. I will keep my T clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will …

Before God, I swear this creed. My T and I are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our competition We are the saviors of my life.

Thanks for our ‘fight song’, 737gdog. We’ll put it to music. :-)

Yeah, not a big fan of stamping the T moniker on the Cayman T and the Macan T. But Porsche will do Porsche.

You jest but we all know it's coming

My prediction - Taycan T will be a base RWD with GTS style wheels and interior pack, PTV+ and RAS as standard, and price-wise it'll slot right between the base and 4S. You know, as I'm typing that, if I were in the market for the EV that actually sounds pretty sweet...

Treating T like they did Black Edition, applying at end of series, on base cars.

Similar to BMW and Mercedes putting M and AMG badging on non M/AMG cars. Dilutes the brand and diminishes how special a true M or AMG car is. Hate it for the T but I bought my T because it had a manual and really enjoy the car.

Macan T is a sad development especially that it uses the VW inline 4.

This makes me think the 992T will be base 3.0l turbo with manual and not a NA 4.0L

Right now is probably the best time to sell your T if you want to maximize profit.

makes sense since 992 « base » Carrera is not available in manual so a 992T with a manual will be very desirable.

I have to agree that the 3.0 turbo engine looks much more likely for the 992 T and think it’ll be pretty similar to how the 991.2 T compared to the standard 991.2 Carrera.

Going with the 4.0 N/A engine would be a big departure for Porsche in the ‘T’ world...

I was honestly baffled when they put that engine into the Cayman/Boxster GTS so who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If they do it, it'll generate a ton of hype guaranteed.

I just hope it retains its remit of the 'obtainable' enthusiast Porsche and that Porsche crank out as many as the market demands. There surely can be only so many models for speculators?

Just curious ... what is the cost of this service, if I may ask?

Yikes. I am not sure I want to answer that… but here goes… Especially for all of those soon after me that have this coming.

And, a quick search, and it seems that 20k / 4 year service outrage threads appear quite regularly on the Rennlist.

First, I would tell you that (since i have the AP Racing BBK, and did a brake fluid flush, I told them to not touch the brake fluid - which would have likely added another few hundred.)

So, the cost was $1,990… six spark plugs, engine filter… and the other normal oil change / filters. The labor was around $1,600 and the rest was parts. It took the tech the better part of a full work day. (I got there at 7:30am… they had to let it cool for an hour… but didn’t seem to start until 11am… and worked right up to closing at 6pm.)

(It has been a good week for me to invest in car maintenance - I decided to treat my lovely A4 Avant to new pistons/seals, because ‘oil consumption’, which ended up costing $10k, which is more than the car is worth. But let’s not get into that questionable decision.)

Hopefully a car maintenance episode on your Carrera T will never exceed its value!
