911 T owners club
#5011
I've finally joined the Porsche owners club and was happy to see there's an unofficially T club as well. I've wanted a 911 ever since seeing the rear spoiler deploy on a 964 Carrera 2 when I was 8 years old. Within weeks of that experience I had spent every penny of my saved allowance on a model die-cast 911 turbo that I rarely let my friends play with.
I picked up my 2019 Carrera T, manual with LWBS, this past Saturday. I have been looking for this spec for about 8 months and one finally showed up at my local Porsche dealer so I jumped on it. Knowing I was buying into a very hot market I wanted to get a car that has some of that rare touch to it and the T was the obvious choice.
My plan is to do a soul cat delete soon and possibly a tune. I have some lite track experience (with carts initially) and a couple of 3 day road race experiences at PBIR and Sebring running the old Skip Barber cars (now branded under Bertil Roos Racing School.) The car has plenty of power but I've grown up tinkering on cars/trucks/motos and enjoy making them a stretch beyond average when the pocket book allows it so I'll be filtering through this thread to see what mod's others have added to the T. I want to get more comfortable driving the car with it's stock tune before adding a lot more power. I've been lucky to drive some friends cars with wild amounts of power but obviously dont push them because I appreciate the trust placed on me getting to drive it and would be mortified if I wadded up a friends ride. There will definitely be some track days ahead for this car.
Anyway, I'm ecstatic to be part of the "club" and look forward to many years of driving one of the most iconic cars on the road.
Cheers!

Welcome WanderJax! Your car and mine are nearly clones.
Wide open Wyoming!
Gotta love those carbon fiber backed buckets and yellow belts! I figure a tune is in my future too.

They’re Extreme Contact DWS 06. For the stock 245/305 tire size, I could find only these and Bridgestones as high performance all-seasons. Went with the Continentals because I had them before on my Shelby GT350 and really liked them.
They’re not as good as winter tires, of course, but they do the job if you don’t want to switch between summer/winter tires every year. And I won’t take the 911T out in heavy snow anyway. Just needed something that can handle the cold and occasional light snow and/or freezing rain.

I came across this cleaning up some files on an old computer and I don't think it has been shared here. Probably enough time has passed that no one cares, but here is an internal training PDF for the Carrera T back in 2018. Some interesting info at the end on how Porsche was positioning the Carrera T v. the GT3 in 2018. Enjoy!

Pondering this question of late. Is a 2018/2019 GT3 Touring really worth the cost of 2x the Carrera T? I get the 9,000 RPM redline of the Cup engine and the sound, but is it really work an extra $120k?

Depends if you buy the car to drive or as an investment.
To drive, probably not, though on a track it would be more exciting.
But as a place to park the extra 120k, you wouldn't risk much or any loss.
So if you have a spare 120k and like Porsches, why not?

Would I love one divorced of the reality I would have to have it in? Absolutely. But given the reality of ADM, Dealer-BS, and the sizable angst associated with using the vehicle as intended (actually driving it) vice worrying about decreasing value (due to all the other inhabitants of said reality and their ability to influence stuff I can't control...), nah. I am comfortable enough that if I total my T having fun in it, no acceptable loss and replaceable in some form (if not exact form). But twice that price? Not without my wife facing a murder charge and me no longer getting to enjoy it. Ghosts can't heel-toe.
I'll just stick with my Attainable Purist-mobile, thank you very much! And thank you Porsche, as I have said for a while, for building this car 'for the rest of us'...

Getting a GT3 Touring essentially gives the same experience with more aggressive stying and power (sans the "look at me" wing). As far as the extra cost, that boils down to personal choice. I've always gotten more pleasure from usage than from having a car sit and "possibly" selling it for more or the same as I paid for it. Frankly, that's not a "car person" in my book. Besides, everyone that knows me, will tell you that the grin on my face (and my internal feeling that comes with it) when coming off the track, or coming home from a weekend canyon drive, well that truly is priceless.

Yes, the engine is magnificent. Don't drive a 991.2 GT3 or it will make you a believer.

Have the extra $120 and now would be a great time to sell my T, given it’s a manual transmission 2019 with rear axle steering, PTV and good options, not to mention the low 1,800 miles on the clock, one owner car.
I was actually worried that the bottom may fall out of the market and I end up - upside down with a 991.2 GT3 Touring at some point. Concerned about a correction coming - just like the stock market of late.

On the power/response and sound mods, equal length headers and sport cats. If you go full cat delete, you WILL need a tune to avoid the check engine light. If you go with sport cats, you should be good on the CEL. There's really not much power to be gained with a cat delete vs high flow cat at the power levels the stock base turbos can put out. Just lots of bad smells. DSC suspension controller is also highly recommended to improve handling and ride. A Vektor Performance air oil separator too as you'll be tracking.

Facebook memories was kind enough to remind me it's been a year since I got my T. Haven't driven it since early November since it's winter.
Soon though. I hope.

I don't see any type of 'correction' coming anytime soon for the T due to its relative rarity and also no more are being made. There is also no newer 992 T equivalent. Even if a 992 T is coming, it's likely at least 2 years away as that's the current lead time on getting a 992 build.
"Our source on these spy photos claims an informer said yes, a naturally aspirated 911 with the 4.0-liter engine is coming. It almost certainly won't have GT3 levels of power, but something in the low 400-hp range slotting between the base Carrera and Carrera S doesn't seem crazy."
