Does anyones butt get sweaty driving this car? LOL
Ive been minimizing highway driving to break in the tranny and avoid rock chips before the ppf goes on. Also helps keep me from crossing 5k rpms by accident

If you’re following the break in instructions from Porsche, it’s 4000 rpm limit not 5000.

Surprisingly, they don’t say to limit driving at one speed.

You shouldn’t limit the speed, of the car or of the engine. It’s important to vary the speed. The break in procedure in the manual is way wayyy too conservative IMHO....

I've read here that the break in procedure is quite different in other countries where the 911 is sold.

In the ROW it’s drive it like you stole it (after proper warm up of course).

In the US, we have a reality distortion field that directly impacts the wear of components in the engine, so you have to chill out for 2000 miles.

The first weekend with my T I took it out on a long drive (300+ miles) at varying speeds and rowing thru all the gears. Did the same for 4 weekends in a row to get most break-in miles on the highway due to my short daily commute.

After a little over 2 months I have 2,800 miles and I can tell the car feels way better. It revs freely and hard all the way to 7,000 RPM and the transmission shifts super smooth.

I've always tried to break in my cars with long drives in a short time and have had great results so far.

Tomorrow I will do my first oil change at home.

Will post some pics and share the results!

Agree on the break in being too conservative. Let the oil really heat up and keep revs varied. Thats as hard as I think about it. This is the advice I've gotten from my Porsche Tech and engine builders.

Just picked up my T yesterday...very happy with this car !

Debating whether to add the Sport Chrono clock to my order. Can someone without the clock confirm whether any performance stats are available in the PCM?

I'll update with a more informed comparison in a few weeks, but after 75 miles in the T and 600miles in the GT3, I really like the T for my needs. The GT3 is an AWESOME car. The way it feels, the manual trans, the sounds it makes the overall package is just crazy capable. And I never drive it. On the street its just too capable to really experience it. Take it to 9K in second gear and you are well over 80MPH. It also attracts a lot of attention with that wing. People take pictures and gather around it when its parked. I just personally don't like the attention. As a track car - my previous 2016 GT3 was amazing. I've owned quite a few Porsche Track only / Race cars and the GT3 right off the showroom floor is amazing. I never took the 2018 GT3 to the track but I have no doubt it was equally as good or better. If my 2018 had been the touring model I may have kept it, but after 6 months of ownership I only put 600 miles on it with 200 of them being one trip. So I traded it on my new T.

The low end torque on these makes it fun in the lower range where the NA motors need to clear 5-6K to start to get fun. It's just really fun to jump into and go places. The handling is fantastic ( I have Rear Wheel Steering) the noises are a solid B+ at this point. I love the way it shifts - very close to GT3 manual feel. It attracts way less attention. So early days - I'll update in a couple of weeks, but so far I love the potential of this car a lot.

All the car magazines that tested the T at the launch said it was actually faster than the GT3 on winding B roads (i.e, off the track). That's due to the low end torque.
I think that's amazing.

Thank you for your insights! It is quite interesting hearing your opinions on the T coming from a GT3. While those who have never driven or even seen a T dismiss it as a "parts bin special", those who have driven or own one know the difference.

If someone knows how to combine parts, that's Porsche, and what a wonderful combination of parts the Carrera T is!

It’s clear that the T is the best 991 variant for off-track use. At the launch, Porsche brought a GT3 Touring, and all the car magazines agreed that the T was faster and better suited to the winding B roads. The GT3 is too much car for the street, and this limits enjoyment. For those who care enough to drive the modern essence of a 911, the T is it!

Is a GT3 worth ~50% more money if you’re not going to track it extensively? I don’t think so.

After much deliberation, here’s my spec: PKZUADC5. Let me know what you think!
I am adding red door pulls and Pepita seat inserts!
