Anyone using it? The app instructions say it should work with GT cars, 991.2 and 982 equipped with sports Chrono package, connect plus and PCM4. Porsche confirmed by VIN that is should work but yet the stealership can't get it to do so. Apparently the track app appears under the apps on the car menu.
Any similar or dissimilar stories? It's supposed to be a fairly nice app, particularly considering it's free.
You didn't mention which 991.2 you have, but my understanding is that the app only works with GT cars with Sports Chrono package. GT means GT3 and GT2 RS, and does not include GTS.

The "Porsche Track Precision App." IS included as part of the GTS Sport Chrono Package on 991.2 cars. Unfortunately OP I haven't tried it yet.
I haven't used it, but I did go and set it up just a couple of days ago. Did you enable the car's Wifi hotspot and select it on your phone? It will have a name beginning with PORSCHE_xxxx and a crazy complicated Wifi password until you set it to something more memorable. I can point you to the right things in a foloow-up unless you have already done all this.
Once the Wifi is setup, the app should be able to connect to the car.
Edit: It is also part of the 991.2 Sport Package (code P3P) available on non-GT cars.

Does the phone app get to the point where you see these screens with all of the status indicators showing "OK", or is it stopping you before that? The second screen is the one that comes up when you tap the upper right Car button, which when connected and working switches from the red "!" to the one you see here.
I'm afraid this is about as far as I got, but it did seem to respond like I'd expect when I pressed "Record New Track".... but I haven't gone past that yet since I wasn't ready to record anything.
If you can't get this far, then I assume it isn't enabled on your car for some reason and the dealer would need to use their PIWI's to enable it.
If you are already this far, then I guess I'm of no more use at this point.
Yours seems to be working. I have the WiFi connection ok, sees the car vin but I got a message saying to activate the feature at the dealer.
Did you need to ask them to activate it or just works for you?

It just worked. I'm hoping not to be disappointed by it's capabilities after mdrums' post.
If it does turn out not to work well, as mdrums says Harry's Lap Timer works very well especially if you hook it up with one of the recommended OBD-II dongles and high frequency GPS units. I've used mine with a OBDLink MX Wi-Fi and a SkyPro XGPS-160 with great success when I autocross (Harry's has an autocross mode while the Porsche app doesn't BTW). I gather the SkyPro can also be used with the Porsche Track Precision app for much higher resolution and higher capture rates (10hz) than the car's built-in GPS.
StormRune, if you find yours works at the track...let us know. Mine was showing video and throttle, brake and steering inputs out of sync about 3 or so seconds. Sometimes the start finish wouldn’t trigger it to start or it would just stop in the middle of a session. A couple of gt3 guys had issues at Sebring too...no fix I heard of.
im far from a computer tech guy. I got my WiFi and the app to work no,problem but it’s just not stable and it lags and does not sync video with actual car information.
What I have found to always work is threshold braking, turn-in, throttle-steer, precise apex, and track-out. Amazing as this may sound, it turns out that doing just these simple things well results in not only faster lap times, but a much lower risk of incident than even thinking about anything to do with lap times. Seriously. Its not the app. Its the driver.
I've been trying to connect my GoPro to the app. Supposedly GoPro can be added as an external video as an option under the Track app's video tab. The Track app's pop up dialog box indicates that you have to connect your Gopro to the Track app using your smartphone. Once you do that it disconnects the car's wifi from the Track App. Anyone figured this out?
Also are there any instructions to the app somewhere in the Porsche world?
Thanks Stormrone your tutorial was helpful to get me this far.
BTW I have a Carrera S with Sportschron and the Track App works with this model.
I bought my .2 4 GTS hoping to get use of the track precision app, as it has gas and brake pedal telemetry information, which would be helpful in analysis more than any track times. unfortunately the dealer forgot to mention to me that because of some wireless regulation in Korea, where I live, track precision app doe not connect here
Debating whether to get it on the T I’m about to order. I don’t love the Chrono clock on the dash, but would order it for the Track app. As you know, the T comes with all the features of the Sport Chrono standard, but without the clock and the Track app. Adding them costs a modest ~$300. But then I would want to paint it, so that’s another ~$500...
