According to my sources that is a seat eject button.

I love that interior.

After having a Panny as a loaner recently, I don't like that new interior. Don't the 2 screens and their useless outside edges. Temp on left and compass or clock on the right? Wasted real estate.

And that shifter? Yikes!

I said the same thing re: the gauges. Total waste of screen real estate. They could have done so much more! And the fact that you STILL can't pull up the damn presents is infuriating!

THIS!!! I’m all for progress but those non shift shifters are total crap. I’m predicting an uptick in manuals based on that image alone.

Looks like a Photoshop. Nowhere near the quality of a Pano.

I cannot imagine anyone thinking it won't be like the new Pano.

It's not a photoshop, it's a prototype mule. And it is like the new Pano...look at the gauges and the center screen.

But just as the Pano and cayenne are similar, but not quite the same, so too will the 911 be.

That will never make production and it's just there because the car has camo and needs to show a third brake light.

Looks like a BMW gear selector.

BMW engineers are experts at creating gear selectors that confuse people. Hopefully this won’t be the case at Porsche, and the prototype mule shifter isn’t the real deal.

Definitely not a fan! At least for now as it is the mule. Typically I do not favor the all digital display panels. Personally, I think they are okay on the Pannys, MBs etc but not on the 911. The 991.1/2 are much more attractive to look at. Maybe because I look at digital displays all day long and by end-of-day I'm craving my 911's analog cockpit.

I find very little to improve upon in my 991.2 Chalk/Blue interior. Really and truly. I wouldn't hate a single cupholder in the center, in lieu of the Rube Goldberg machines that pop out from behind the aluminum dash piece on the passenger side.

But what I would hate Hate HATE would be that little electronic shifter nubbin seen in the pictures in this thread:

One thing the current-gen PDK gets right is an attractive, beefy, normal automatic gear change lever in the center. If you used to drive manual (or still do), it gives you a natural place to rest your hand. And the chunky leather/aluminum ball on top feels great in the hand. But I especially like the normal, predictable PRND arrangement: Park up front, drive all the way back. I also like having to pull the "trigger lever" on the front of the unit to select gears.

My wife has a current-gen BMW X5 and I REALLY dislike what BMW has done with their gear change levers. It's a little electronic doo-hickey, with a button on top you press with your thumb to engage PARK. It is totally counterintuitive to use. Even now I can't remember if you push it forward to engage drive....or toggle it back...or wait, is that for reverse? Or forward? Hold on a sec... here's the Beemer McNubbin:

I also dislike the feel of it. If you rest your hand on it while you're driving and accidentally give it a nudge, it will electronically shift the car into neutral. That's always fun when you gas it. Awful design, and unnecessarily complicated, IMHO. I even think they're dangerous, and several journalists agree. See these articles in Consumer Reports, Autoweek, and CNN.

Why would Porsche, the mother of all design must follow purpose companies go down that nubbin rout, and deny PDK pilots even the facsimile of a shift ****?

Don't do it, Stuttgart!

That shifter looks like a repurposed electric shaver.

Thank goodness I got a 911 PDK before the Remington shaver-era nubbin.
